“No rest for the weary here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

It doesn't matter that the rooms are big, it's clean, it's got a good location, the owners are nice. The fact is that you choose a hotel so you can, at some point go to bed and it is not possible to get any sleep at this hotel. From about midnight till 5 am some ridiculously loud music plays downstairs, which penetrates even the earplugs reception will give you when you complain. The curtains are white, so you need those airplane eyemasks because the light from the downstairs shops lights up the room making it feel like perpetual day. Just when the music finally stops and there is a glimmer of hope that you can get to sleep at about 6am, the construction site for the new block being built goes off for the rest of the day, with sawing, hammering, drilling and such, making it impossible to even have a much needed nap after the sleepless night. I was a wreck after two nights of this. There are millions of other places to stay. Most of them are considerably cheaper than this place. Choose one that's quiet.

Room Tip: Pick one in apartment 1 because at least that side doesn't overlook the construction zone!

Good sized rooms and at a good price. I was surprised at the value of this accommodation. And it's right in the nightlife area and about 250 meters from the beach. A great find. I'd certainly recommend this place.

Room Tip: I was given a ground floor room and was pretty apprehensive about the potential noise level given th...

Such a good location however if you don't want to go out all night the noise is unreal luckily had ear plugs!! Think they should give you a pair when you check in! In the day is no better as building site next door starts at like 6! Room was really nice and clean. Air con started leaking when we were about to check out.

Firstly, in agreement with all of the other reviews, this hotel is in the perfect location for Chaweng beach. It's a short 5 minute stroll down to the beach and about 30 seconds from the main clubbing strip. The latter naturally has its benefits and flaws. If (like me) you were seeking a holiday to relax by day and take advantage of the night life in the evenings, then definitely consider this hotel. Although, make sure you get home after 5am every night as that's when the music will die down! If you're not looking to go out this much, then I'd consider staying at a hotel further away from the clubbing scene.

I ordered my room online (bookings.com), as I was aware of the full moon party having just been and sometimes this can mean that hotels quadruple their prices and genrally being fully booked. It was a smooth process and the (really) helpful staff welcomed me and gave me a bottle of water as I was clearly in need due to the 35 degree mid-afternoon heat! Their hospitality continued throughout my 5 night stay as I was always greeted with big smiles by both the owner and his (I presume) wife.

The room was amazing compared to other hotels/guest houses I'd stayed in in Koh Samui and Koh Tao. I paid 700Baht per night, which was a lot considering I was solo but well worth the money. I had a king size bed, television, fridge a double wardrobe, and a balcony. The shower was warm stayed warm.

The lock was...different. From the outside, you were secured by a padlock, which was certainly new to me. The downside about the room was that the reception closed at 11pm, meaning you had to take your key out with you every night, but as long as you keep an eye on it you will be fine.

Stayed at Panupong Apartment on 25th Mar to 28th Mar. It was my second time there! Adequate amenities with hot shower, mini balcony, big bed, spacious room with fridge and aircon. There's tv but it's only in Thai language with 1 or 2 channels that are in English. But it didn't matter as we are not in the hotel most of the time. It worth the money! Plus, it's walking distance from the beach!

You can rent a bike at the reception itself! Price can be bargained. Staffs are very friendly. They are always there to assist you if ever in doubt. The rooms are very clean! The bed was nicely made!

Location of the apartment is close to the town area. But it can get noisy as it is quite close to the clubs and pubs. There's a massage parlour. tattoo shop, hair saloon at level 1. Shops like 7-11 are walking distance. It's not that hard to find. By taxi from the pier, it takes about 20 mins.

Overall, it's a great place for couples and friends!

Stayed at Panupong over Christmas in 2012 with 5 mates and it was awesome. Our main criteria for places in thailand was low prices and good locations, and this place ticks both boxes. I was nervous about what the rooms were going to be like after seeing photos, but i can honestly say that this was the nicest place i stayed in over my whole trip. For how cheap it is, the rooms are amazing! They are very spacious, and the bathrooms are really clean and modern looking with cool modern finishes, its unbelievable, i totally didnt expect it. Now to the location. For me thats the most important aspect of any place to stay, i couldnt care less what the service is like or how big or small the rooms are. Especially in thailand, because you walk everywhere. Panupong is situated right next to the main nightclub strip, so it really is the best location if u want to party. Its also a 2 minute walk from Arc bar, which I would reccommend staying at if you have some extra funds in your budget. Now many people complain about the music and not getting a good night sleep, which i was concerned with. I can personally attest to the fact that it is not as big of a problem as everyone says it is. I took a break from partying and getting drunk for my whole 4 nights in koh samui, and i slept fine at 1 am each night. Anyone that complains shouldnt be staying here in the first place, simple as that. If you want to party, then this is the perfect place. ull come home smashed and fall asleep easily. Other than that, I'd like to personally mention how friendly the owners are. Ive never met such beautiful people in my life. Its run by a husband and his wife, and they are generally the happiest people ive ever come across. Me and my mates grew very close with them, always saying hello and goodbye every time we came and went. they always greeted us with friendly smiles and asked us how it was all going, and one massive thing - they gave us as much water as we wanted, free of charge! its not in the best interest of any hotel to give out atleast 4 free bottles of water a day to 6 of us thirsty boys, but they did it regardless of what it was costing them. you will learn that in thailand places will squeeze you for everything you have, so it was so awesome to get as many waters as we wanted, theyd literally offer us every time we walked past. Ahh i actually cant speak highly enough of the owners, they really are such good people. They also rent motorbikes to you which is very very convenient and they have an awesome laundry service for a very cheap price. This place was unreal, i would definately go back, and any travellers considering staying there ill tell you now, you wont find a nicer place in the whole of thailand for what panupong offers. stay there.
