“Wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

You get a fantastic sea view from the tops of the trees. There are several platforms each with one table, go for the highest one you can get. The food was really good & the service was exceptional.

“Superb,....second time around !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

This was our second visit, and, was to celebrate my partners birthday. I had booked ahead (2 months!) to reserve our preferred table (#8) ((#7 is touted as the best....but we beg to differ!!) Note,...there are only 8 tables,...and two sittings per evening, 6-9pm and 9pm-midnight.

We arrived at 6:30pm to be advised that they had another booking for our table at 9, and they politely asked for us to be finished just before. We understood, and had no issue with that.

We opted for the 5-course 'Romance' menu which comprised of ;

1 -Rock Lobster, poached in aromatic spice, olive oil, braised mousse in brioche celery salad & a Thai basil Jam
2 - Champagne soup,... with a crunchy oyster
3 - Scallop Tempura, in whisky foam & green asparagus
A palate freshner of Watermelon & ginger sorbet prepared us for ;
4- Wagyu beef cheeks, slow cooked in aq red wine jhus, soy pepper foam with braised leek and almond croquettes.
5- Black forrest, a chocolate brownie with drunken cherries and an almond ice-cream.

All these courses were accompanied by individual glasses of wine, one champagne, two white and two red wines.

Service was again impeccable, although, as I had advised in advance of the special occasion, I was advised that my partner would receive a 'special' dessert,...sadly, it didn't arrive,...and I did not wish to emabaress them or my partner of the missive.

That said, on departing, we were approached at the reception by the staff asking us to wait a moment. The restuarnat manager arrived to offer profuse appologies for the oversight, they realised once we had left,....we were offered complimentary transport to wherever we wish to go to, but as we had driven ourselves, this very kind gesture was declined.

Overall, another superb visit,...and,...we will return !!

Dear Double100,

We are certainly glad being able calling you a very loyal customer of ours and that you have chosen us for this special occasion is much appreciated.

Also a sincere apology for the delay of the cake during the dinner, which I hope hasn’t spoilt the overall experience.

I am looking forward welcoming you back and would appreciate if you contact me directly for your next booking.

With kind regards

“lovely but over-priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

We went here for our anniversary. The steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender but very over-priced. A$70 is a lot more than we would pay for a good steak at home. We read in trip advisor about the complimentary ride back to some people's hotels but we must have been staying too far away because we had to hail our own taxi on the street. The salt and knife selection are really just a bit of theatre as they show you them all and then tell you the one to have with your steak - what's the point? A good experience but did it once - never again.

Dear ChrissieMelbourne,

Thank you for dining with us and sharing your feedback here on TripAdvisor and the possibility to address some of your comments.

It is very likely that the very tender steak you enjoyed so much in Tree Tops is more expensive than what you would pay home in Melbourne for the same steak. Most likely because the Wagyu beef we are using is imported from your home country and the transportation etc. is certainly being charged on top. In exchange of the surcharge you are able to enjoy one of the best steaks you can find on this island.

Is it also correct that we usually only serve a selection of salts and knifes that compliment your main course the best. Beside the fact that not all salts going well with all dishes we believe that 8 different salts would be a bit over the top and would turn your main course into a salt degustation, which is not the idea of it. Our Salt Guru will usually ask you if you would like to try any other of the presented salts, beside the one he recommended for your dish. We will look into this in order to ensure that this is happening as your comment suggests that he might have not made this offer at your table.

Should you have expressed your desire to use more than one knife for your steak I am confident that my team would have provided you with one knife of each kind. Please accept my apology that we teased you with the presentation of all knifes and left you with only one. We will review our presentation in this case as well in order to look for potential improvements.

We appreciate your comments and are glad to hear that you enjoyed the food.

With kind regards

“Absolutely fantastic restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

I am a chef thus very critical. This place was amazing , the ambience fabulous and each table in its own platform thus giving privacy and very quiet. the extras eg bread with yoghurt dip , sorbet between entree and main the supply of wet towels, choice of knives and salts for the dinner the the finale at end of complimentary macaroons was an added dimension to the fabulous dinner. the meals were delectable and extremely well presented. I would go again and would advise anyone visiting the island not to miss the experience. It is expensive for island prices but compared to New Zealand prices are on a par with Amur top restaurants.
