“Good but expected better!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Having read all the nice reviews of this place on TA, it was once of the first places we went to eat out during our recent visit to Koh Samui.
We arrived around 7 PM and were seated immediately. However, the place filled up quickly and there was a waiting queue by the time we left.
The ambiance of the place is nothing to write about- a large metal hanger, white concrete painted walls, concrete floors and old plastic chairs and tables. The kitchen is open and you can see what is going on inside while you wait for your food to arrive. They have a large menu with pictorial representation of each item, so you know what you are ordering. The price per plate is low but quantity is also quite less. So its not really that cheap as it appears initially!
The person who took our order seemed to be fluent in English, which was not a surprise as this place is very popular with the tourists.
I ordered the pork ribs for starters but it turned out to be quite a joke as the ribs were really tiny. Then I ordered the Butter garlic prawns which I had to first select and get weighed. But at 175 Baht per 100 gms they were not cheap! However, they were well prepared. For the main dish we had Chicken Penang Curry with steamed rice, which was decent. For drinks I had a Pineapple shake while my wife had coconut water.
The best dish in my opinion was the mango in sticky rice which took some time to arrive but was worth the wait.
Our bill came to around 750 Baht but the major expense was the prawn dish.
We could have visited it again to try the other dishes if we were staying in Chaweng. But we had better places to eat closer to where we were staying, so didn't return!

“Best food you have to eat here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Based on the Trip Advisor reviews we decided to go to Ninja Crepes. We were not disappointed! Fantastic experience. We arrived got a table straight away which was great because not long after we sat down there was a line out the door. The place is basically a large garage with a concrete floor and roller door in the front. Plastic chairs and tables and an open kitchen. The menu goes on and on there are many choices. We went for friend noodles with chicken very nice. Penang tiger prawns which you pay for per 100 gms and also some garlic and black pepper squid which again you pay for by the 100 gms. After we ordered one of the staff came to the table with a tray of prwans and squid and some scales. We selected the seafood we wanted it was weighed in front of us so we knew what we were getting and what we were paying for. All the food was fantastic if we were in Koh Samui longer I have no doubt we would have eaten here almost every night.

“This is about as authentic Thai food as you can get!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

The queue is worth the wait (we were about 15 deep and it took 45 minutes to wait in line)! They advertised today (07/08/2013) that they open 12:00 until 23:00.
Ninja is situated in a large metal hanger, white concrete painted walls, concrete floors and an eclectic mix of old plastic or formica tables adjourned with a range of little plastic and porcelain pots filled with various Thai condiments (from soy sauce, chilli flakes to sweet chilli sauce etc) This is for the traveller who likes to get stuck into this fabulous culture! We were lucky enough to have a seat away from the queuing tourists and with a good view of the kitchen. It was amazing to see. The have a totally open kitchen to the one side of the restaurant. One lady took the orders from the various waiters and gave out the various orders to chefs who each had their own work stations. One was assigned to starters, another three all had a work station where they either cooked, fried or deep fried the food. This was all then pulled together by the same lady and dished out to the individual tables. The waiters wrote down the orders on bits of neatly cut brown cardboard packaging :) Waste nothing!
The menu was very extensive, great variety from western burgers and chips to all the Thai dishes you can think of. We ordered between the two of us; Thai fish cakes (spicy), Ninja parcels (curried vegetables) for starters, followed by Chicken Masaman curry (nice and spicy with pineapple), beef Penang (beautifully a flavoured with sweet Thai basil) and accompanied with coconut rice (we had to try this, it was delicious, and great for taking the heat away from spicy food) and morning glory (difficult to eat with a fork and spoon!) We were absolutely stuffed. Our total food bill including two large singer beers, one bottle of water and pineapple juice came to only 740 baht. We will go again to try out the puddings!
Fun and delicious! Ladies might want to take a hair tie! The fans are fierce (and very much needed in the heat of Koh Samui)
Enjoy :)

“true Thai food and great Thai people..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

The best place we at on Koh Samui, and returned at least once everyday to the smiling, waving owner who was always lovely to us.
The good was fantastic and some of the best whilst I was in Thailand. The pumpkin curry and mango desert were our personal
favourites..
The long queue outside shows how popular this place is and it's worth waiting for. Despite hacking closed at 23:00, we arrived late and they insisted on setting the kitchen back up to cook us a meal.

A must visit if you are on the island.

“A real budget travelling experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013 via mobile

This place reminds me real budget backpacker travelling. Food is good and cheap, service great and atmosphere excellent. Do not come here if you are looking for a gourmet restaurant. This a Thai bar.
