“Really nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights after we became ill with Dengue fever. It was very close to the hospital for our daily blood tests. The room itself was large and modern with a comfortable bed, good a/c, hot shower and free, fast wi-fi. The pool looked really nice but we were too ill to use it. Each room had a balcony, but sadly no furniture on it. Overall we would recommend Joy Residence.

Room Tip: none of the rooms have great views, so any are good

It’s a good 10-minute walk to the main street, which runs parallel to the beach, but that is compensated for by the hotel amenities and value.

This is a relatively new and stylish property that seems to cater for longer-term residents but also has rooms available for daily rentals. There is a huge pool, a small fitness center and a simple dining area poolside that serves great food and an included breakfast. The pool loungers would be more comfortable with pads.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and stylish with a huge bathroom. Wi-Fi is spotty but a change of room helped. The surrounding area is reasonably quiet but lacks restaurants so a walk into town is necessary. The hotel also rents motorbikes.

I stayed here for 1 and a half months from Feb 2013 to mid March 2013.
Its a good hotel with good service. Rooms were cleaned 2-3times a week and cleaned well. Even washed the dishes, provided new towels, and cleaned my table. Manager was quite helpful with anything you needed. All rooms are AC which was great! Pool was amazing and kept clean. Gym was small but had everything you needed. Rooms were nice and looked modern.

Restaurant was great! Chef was really nice and quick service. Prices are reasonable but wouldnt recommend eating there all the time. There are cheaper places to eat around but when your lazy and just want a quick bite.. its perfect.

The main chewang strip (where Ark bar, Green mango) is about 20min walk... however we rented a bike from the hotel for 3500baht/month and was easy to get to. If you want to make it a big night.. just walk 10secs to the ring road and you will find a tuktuk to take you to chewang for about 50-60 baht/pp.

The only downside i could say was that the balcony on all the double rooms didnt have chairs on them. Had to sit on the floor but wasnt a big issue.

I would def recommend this place for long term stays or if you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the chewang main strip.

Room Tip: All rooms are great! The family are much bigger and have a seperate living room and chairs on the ba...

Stayed for 5 nights at the end of our travels! It is a big new hotel, the cleanliness is very high standard, rooms are cleaned new sheets, towels every day! Has alot of perks, huge clean pool which is empty alot of the time, free wifi (which doesnt always work so well) 3 good movie chanels! Mini kitchenette, balcony good size rooms! Gym free of use! Negatives are it about 20 min walk through local area to get to town which was fine for us but may not suit everyone and either because its new or seems big hotel it doesnt seem to have any atmosphere, the staff do not speak good english which makes communicating hard sometimes and there was only one cook who seemed to be the waitress & cleaner too which makes service very slow but she was very nice and all the other staff were friendly also! So dont come here if you want to party or meet people but good to chill out & relax!

Look, the rooms aren't bad & have reasonable facilities (kitchette etc) but are definitely starting to look a little worse for wear. There is some trouble communicating with the staff as their English is very basic even by Thai standards. Also, two emails I sent to Joy Residences prior to arrival went unanswered. Nothing unforgivable, but an inconvenience none the less.

All in all it was ok, but there is better value to be had in this price range.
