We stayed at at the Kirikayan Boutique for a few days in July 13. This was a really great boutique hotel. We stayed in a studio room and it was quite spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. An excellent resort.....very friendly staff and full of energy...

Must visit for a romntic stay.

Kirikayan Boutique Resort Ko Samui

We live in Thailand and had not visited Ko Samui for a while, previously we had stayed at OP bungalows, but decided this time to spend more and indulge ourselves

The last night we were staying we preordered a red snapper, the previous evening, about one kilo, in the Chalaybun Restaurant part of the hotel. It was excellent, crispy with the bone removed and a very spicy sauce, some of the best fish I have eaten in many years, the desert chocolate soufflé with ice cream was also very good, unlike the cold crepe suzette we ate on a previous evening, in the same place; that was as bad as the soufflé was good

We chose Kirikayan on the bottom end of Chaweng beach, for six nights, we had booked early and on arrival told the room we booked was not available and we were being upgraded. The photos on the internet are very clever, and every possible lens must have been used to create the impression; and the one of the pool whilst factual, gives a very different impression of reality

The hotel is a remarkable feat of imagination and creativity on a narrow strip to the beautiful beach front, getting so many rooms into such a small space, the close proximity is well covered with many lovely tropical plants

We were shown to the new room on the second floor with living room downstairs and the bed on the floor squeezed into the second floor up a narrow concrete staircase, some ten steps and no handrail, and the air
conditioning really only serving the down stairs, after half an hour I went to reception to explain the bed on the floor was not very good for me being a pensioner and having problems getting up from the floor, also the extra steps were dangerous when going to the bathroom when half asleep in the night and there was no television in the bedroom, I enquired could we have what we booked, some six weeks earlier

We were given a new room by the nice and smiling reception, room number 1/3, on the ground floor, much better but a little cramped, no chair or writing table, beautifully furnished with lovely colours and many cushions, but nowhere to store them, space was cleverly saved with using a tree branch with hooks instead of a wardrobe. It was good we had suitcases as we then had somewhere to put our clothes. The bathroom was very good with water so hot you could scald yourself on it, either a temperature controller or big sign needs to be posted, children using the hot water could seriously harm themselves, as in fact I nearly did myself, being used in Thailand to only tepid hot water

The rooms were very clean and all the staff very helpful and smiling

I had trouble with the internet and reception tried very hard to help switching me from one modem to another , however it would only work in some parts of the room and was then the slowest I have ever used so slow at times to be almost unusable, even in reception it was not much better. I found it very frustrating.

The swimming pool was very beautiful but most days it was not possible to get sun loungers or tables with shade, and again on the beach there were no sun loungers available, simply because there were not enough, there was no space by the pool but plenty on the beach

The buffet breakfast is quite comprehensive, the bacon, I think is cooked one day when it is underdone by the third day it has become overdone, (being reheated) likewise the hash browns but by day three they are baked too hard to eat, the eggs are very good and freshly cooked, the bread is at least a couple of days old and not fresh, the butter is kept next to the toaster so it is nicely melted The fresh yogurt is good but would be better if kept chilled, and again maybe reserved from the previous day

On out last day there we wanted to lounge by the pool or on the beach but there were no spaces available. Also no table, to have lunch by the pool, the internet was not working and the television in the room just a noise and spots, we were leaving soon so I started writing my review!!

I travel a reasonable amount and have visited many wonderful hotels,
this was not one of my best choices, I much prefer the simpler OP Bungalows up the beach which is under half the price with plenty of shade on the beach, and rooms twice the size

Would I go back, would I recommend it, unfortunately no to both

Room Tip: ask for one with a wardrobe

We stayed at at the Kirikayan Boutique for a few days in July 13. We choose one of the Duplex Suites, staying with our teenage daughter the Duplex provided some personal space for all. We thought the Hotel was great, with direct access to beach, nice pool and deck area. We thought the location is excellent, providing easy walking access to the busy Chaweng centre, but just far enough away to protect you from the noise and excitement. The staff at the hotel are very polite, but I have to mention the reception team, as we found them to be extremely polite, very helpful and quite charming. We will go back to the Kirikayan.

Room Tip: We choose a Duplex, it provided some personal space for us and our teenage daughter.

This was a really great boutique hotel. We stayed in a studio room and it was quite spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. It had a very Thai feel to it, without being over the top, it was really nice. The airconditioning worked well, the room was cool within 10 minutes of inserting our key and the pressure in the shower was good. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and we were greeted with a tasty, refreshing drink upon our arrival.

The hotel is situated on Chaweng Beach and the hotel pool overlooks the beach and has plenty of deck chairs both around the pool and on the beachfront. The pool was a little warm for our liking, but we found this to be the case with most of the places we stayed at in Thailand. We did have a happy hour at one point in the pool bar where you get 'two for one' cocktails, however when we watched them make the cocktails, they didn't actually put two drinks worth of alcohol in the glasses, they just split the one drink into two short glasses with LOTS of ice. Very cheeky... So we didn't order anymore drinks after that.

The only disappointing thing about this hotel was the breakfast, there wasn't much of a selection of food and what was there was cold and the pastry's/breads had ants crawling all over them. We actually skipped breakfast a couple of times even though it was included in our room because it was so unappealing.

Overall a good stay and I would return.

The hotel is not far away from the shopping area in Chaweng, but it is nice and quiet there. It is placed perfect to the beach. The hotel is not so big. We stayed there for five nights and had the deluxe suite. Tha bathroom was ok. The sofa was not a good sofa to sit in. The pillows fell out, and we felt we were slipping down to the floor. The bed is placed on second floor. Be aware that it is placed near the roof, so it gets very hot there. The room has AC, but it does not reach all the way up to the bed. We took off the key from the card, then the AC was on all day.

The roof in the deluxe suite had small holes, so beware of the mosquitoes.

The breakfast was ok. The pool is not so big, but big enough to have a short swim. The sunbeds by the pool have a beautiful view. The sunbed on the beach were also great.

They also offer massage, and it was good. The service by the pool was ok.

We stayed at this resort between 10th June 2013- 13th June 2013 in one of the two the Jaccuzzi Suites.
The room was stunning, absolutely beautiful furnishings however the standout would have to be the private balcony area including outside jaccuzzi overlooking the beach. This room type is fenced off from passing traffic which meant it was very quiet.
Unfortunately you are only povided with one key which operates the airconditioning and as such, it gets very, very humid in the room and takes some time to cool down. This is due to the beautifully high ceilings.
The breakfast is pretty average, however being a boutique hotel my expectations were not high.
The only really downside to this hotel is the staff. There are many, many steps up to the hoptel reception and no help is given to bring you bags up for check in, or down to street level when checking out.

Room Tip: The jaccuzzi suite is a must. I would only stay in this room at this hotel.

The hotel is located at the quieter end of Chaweng beach. Rooms are somewhat trendy but they do not have sea views or a balcony since they are side ways on located. Since each room entrance is located on a common walkway access, room blinds have to be kept close which makes the room dark.

Towards the beachfront, there is a swimming pool and a patio with sun beds, and nice red umbrella’ however in some respects, the swimming pool feature is bad, as it tends to attract groups of noisy people. There are a number of sun beds located down on the beach, which are much quieter. The beach here is very good, fine sand, shallow water that makes it very kid friendly.

One rather has the feeling that this hotel is trying to be abit too fancy and while the hardware is in place, staff were generally found to be ho hum and nothing special. Service at the pool area was very slow, however there is a happy hour 5 – p.m. which offers a very good cocktail selection.

Room Tip: Ask for room on second floor.
