We had dinner here tonight and enjoyed it a lot. We have younger kids, 6 and 8, and we managed to persuade them to NOT order off the kids menu (usual stuff- spaghetti, burgers etc) and order a few local dishes like prawn cakes, spring rolls, summer rolls etc. All Thai dishes. Most of the appetizers come with some sort of dipping sauce so the dishes themselves aren't too spicy, but you can make them spicy with the sauces- something I was l,eased with. The main courses were all excellent. They prepare authentic Thai dishes the way they should be prepared, present them carefully and cheerfully and them let you enjoy it all without being pestered too much. The location is stunning. Right in the beach. We went at sunset and there was someone on the beach (not allowed in the customer area- phew!) selling Chinese lanterns. A few people bought them and it was very pretty watching them get launched over the ocean. The cocktail list (both boozy and non boozy) is excellent and they are all very, very tasty. The Margarita Real is fab, as was the non alcoholic peach Dream, which my kids had 2 of each!!! We didn't stay for dessert as there were some very large groups there and service became a little slow. They were extremely apologetic about it all but that doesn't matter when your kids want dessert and are tired out from a day at the water park.
I would go back again and again for high quality Thai food in a beautiful location. It's in the middle of Chaweng but far enough away from all the people so that you forget where you are. I mean that too. I think Chaweng has gone a little too far over the edge to cater to the tourist crowd, with a staggering number of street vendors selling the same, cheap touristy stuff. Eat Sense felt like it wasn't part of that in any way whatsoever. A 150 metre walk made all the difference and we had a very tasty, enjoyable dinner. I only wish I could have had dessert as I'm sure it would have been equally great. One for the list of solid performers I think, and it was recommended to us for. The visitors book in our villa. Even the owners of our villa go there regularly so I think it's a very safe bet for just about any group from 2 to 40 people. After that, the service may slow down some. OK if you can fill your time with cocktails and Chinese lanterns though!
