“Stay here and be pampered!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Loved my two nights here at the Anantara Resort and Spa. Felt so spoilt and special..
Loved those wee extras like the free sun block, fruit ice cubes and ice cold towels at the pool/beach. The rooms were spacious and beautiful. Would go back to the room at night and the beds were turned down, slippers laid out , water by the bed and on a leaf was written the weather for the next day and wishing you a sweet dreams sleep... Just all these wee special touches were amazing... The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - Would definitely recommend this accommodation. The breakfast included was fabulous with lots of variety. The food at the restaurant was also super - Yes, cant wait to come back another time. Thank you for my amazing holiday - see you next time x

The Anantara was the 2nd stop on our trip to Thailand and after an amazing time in Bangkok had a lot to live up to. I am pleased to say we were not disappointed.....

We had the pleasure of staying here for 4 nights and on arrival decided to upgrade our room (deluxe plunge pool room) to a sea view pool villa. The room was spectacular and the outside space amazing, unfortunately for us we could not enjoy most of it as we were eaten alive from the moment we arrived until the day we left, I am not sure this is anyone's fault it could be the climate and time of year we were there and we certainly did take all the usual precautions to avoid, maybe be were just unlucky but neither me or my husband have experienced quite such an attack so for us the upgrade was not worth it so wanted to point this out.

Because of the above we spent most our days around the wonderful pool area overlooking the beach so not such a compromise! It was here that we received the very best level of service from all the staff working at the pool bar area and restaurant.

The staff are an absolute credit to this resort and definitely made our stay here extra special, from their wonderful greeting, excellent communication skills and can do attitude we wanted for nothing. An endless supply of beach towels, complimentary sun cream, cold towels and frozen pineapple to cool you down made those lazy days around the pool perfect.

We found the food and drink reasonably priced (for a hotel), very very tasty and a wide choice but clearly much more expensive than the short walk (15 mins) into town where there is a plethora of bars and restaurants so you do have the choice of either which is another positive.

If you are planning on staying in Ko Samui then we would highly recommend this resort, I do not think anyone would be disappointed and it deserves in our opinion it's 5* rating based on the four 5* hotels we stayed in whilst in Thailand.

Room Tip: Try and get a room near the pool area this is were it all goes on from breakfast til late evening!

Dear Karen H,

I am very pleased to read that you had such an amazing stay with us and that my team played an important part in this.

It is indeed that some person seem to be more attractive to mosquito than others. We do our best to prevent mosquitos but a 100% protection is unfortunately not possible. Nevertheless, should there be any challenge we love hearing about it and will put additional efforts in it.

Thank you once again for all your compliments and we are looking forward welcoming you back to Samui one day.

With kind regards

From the minute we arrived we knew we were in for a treat. Check in was easy - whilst our rooms weren't ready (we got there at 9.30 am we were given access to change facilities and sat by the pool where a staff member came to advise us when the rooms were ready. The pool service staff were extremely attentive and friendly.
The deluxe room was a short walk from the pool and the Ocean Kiss restaurant - took a grand total of three minutes to walk there. The room was big enough - frankly if its clean and comfortable I'm happy as I tend not to spend too much time in the room - it's merely a sleeping place whilst on holiday. The bathroom was HUGE and clean. The housekeeping staff did an amazing job day and night - just be carefult though in the LATE afternoon as the "do not disturb: and Clean the room signs" can blow around in the wind and the staff do knock but enter straight away so you can get caught out....lol.
The pool was clean and plenty of sun beds available - towels all clean and plenty provided.
The food at the pool bar was great as were the drinks (cocktails). Sun screen is provided - and is very much needed. Make sure you keep topping up even on overcast days.
Check out was just as easy as check in.
Make sure you do the Spice Spoons cooking class - its a great way to get out with a chef to the local markets and see some of the thai culture surrounding food. is also an excellent opportunity to sample fruits and treats that you might not ordinarily try out. The market is not for vegans though as the meat sections are quite in your face - as a carnivore even I struggled!
Chaweng town is just down the road - accessed easily by taxi, tuk tuk or scooter.
We hired scooters for the week and had a blast on them. Great way to cool off when its hot - with the breeze and a fun way to get around the island ans see the sights!
Spa facilities - excellent - really enjoyed the massage and would most likely use the facilities again on a return visit. My only disappointmet (of my own making) - I purchased a Green Tea scrub to take home - forgot about the 100ml limit on plane and had it seized from carry on upon departure - I did email the spa to enquire about an on-line purchase - to date no reply.
Would I stay here again - most definitely. The staff were trult awesome - the facilites were great although the stairs to and from the pool/Ocean KIss not for anyone with knee issues or in a wheel chair.
The beach was great - be careful of the coral if swimming in the waters.
Beach BBQ on the Wednesday night was fabulous - glad I did it and the lantern lighting was lovely.
.

Room Tip: Save your money and get a Deluxe room - the main pool is sufficient and the only place to get pool s...

Dear ShezM,

Thank you for taking the time sharing your detailed feedback with us and others.

We are currently sourcing new Do Not Disturb signs as you havent been the first one experiencing challenges with the wind. My apology if we disturbed you.

The Spice Spoons cooking class is indeed a special experience and even myself as an experienced Thailand Resident is always amazed when being taken to the local market with a local Chef.

Thank you for sharing your Spa experience with us and I will ensure that you will be contacted shortly in order to arrange a delivery of the Green Tea scrub.

With kind regards

What an incredible stay, would love to mention names of staff but there were too many as they were all so fantastic, special mention to Jan who tended our check in. Her and reservations and housekeeping assisted in celebrating my colleagues birthday with us with a beautiful in room decorations and cake in such a fantastic way!

Another highlight is the breakfast, absolutely fantastic and the beach and pool side bar staff and food were incredible, the spa was amazing and another must do during your stay.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone! And i will most definitely be returning back here again one day. Keep up the fantastic jobs you guys are doing and many thanks for such a fantastic stay!!!

This is my first visit with my 3 kids to Koh Samui.I refer to trip advisor before making bookings for 4 days 3 nights. The hotel are not far from the airport. We got 2 rooms on the top floor,If you have a knee problem please request for downstairs room,It is the best choice for a first timer like me and family. The staffs are super polite, humble and knowledgeable. The room are big, very clean and it comes with a big patio for u to chill. They even took the initiative to come and suprise my son with a cake and a happy birthday song. The room charges are reasonable plus we have a good spread of breakfast, continental and local food. There are plenty of massage place in front of the hotel,if you wanna experience authentic thai cuisines ..please go to Sabaenglai restaurant at lamai beach which is about 45mins taxi ride.Check out is smooth as the checking in,One more plus point ,they have a cigar lounge by the beach which serve great and good tasting wines at a reasonable price..TQ very much To all Anantara Lawana Staffs ,warmest Regards Nita Jesmee n 3 kids

Room Tip: this hotel Villa come with a plunge pool and none on the top floor. If you have a knee problem,i sugg...

We spent 2 weeks at the Anantara Lawana during July and stayed in their pool Access room which was worth paying the extra for the upgrade and glad we didn't get the standard room or plunge pool rooms as they are more or less on top of each other. We had one of the villa's that was one of 4 villas as opposed to 6 or 7 and much better in my opinion as less people to share a pool with.

The beach for me was absolutely fine but the sea is fairly shallow and you need to go quite far to get out to sea properly. The hotel is clean and the service was excellent by all staff throughout our time there, especially the ice fruit and cold towels at the beach during the morning.

The breakfast was vast as many have mentioned and there was something for everyone. We also ate there for lunch a couple of times and again the food was excellent. Tree tops was also a great experience and worth going one night. The only thing to bear in mind, like most hotels, is that prices for food and drink is at least almost treble what you would get outside the hotel but you would expect that.

Its is also located perfectly as its a quick 5 minute ride that costs £2 on songthaew to the centre of Cheweng which leaves the hotel in a more peaceful environment for those that want to relax away from Cheweng if they choose. We also went to Fishermans Village a couple of times which is 15 mins in a taxi and costs about £7 each way.

Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be near Cheweng and happily go back there.

Room Tip: Pool access room and ask for the one with only 4 villas!

We went to Anantara Lawana for our honeymoon, we stayed there for five nights. The room were very Thai-style, big and comfortable.
The pool was big and fun.
Breakfast was delicious. The staff was very kind and helping (especially Su)

We didn't like the many stairs in the hotel -it wasn't so comfortable, the high prices of the hotel's restaurant and mini bar, the toilet wasn't clean. Also a lot of mosquitoes.
