The 'Cock' as it is known locally is set in the highly desirable and ancient village of Farnley Tyas, near Huddersfield.
Over the past 25 years or so this country pub / restaurant has been run by a number of managers, most notable being the late Peter Midwood. During his reign this sleepy village was enlivened by what was seen at the time as a new and exciting venue for the good folks of Huddersfield. He was followed by a number of owner / managers - non of whom managed to maintain the popularity of this place as either a pub or a restaurant.
A new broom has swept in - a very affable Portuguese gentleman by the name of Ricardo has overseen the renovation and restoration of the Golden Cock and once again the reputation and the feel of the place is on a new high note.
The bar area which had been over modernised has a 'country feel' again and the bar and bistro food is great. Friendly staff and a good selection of beers and wine make the bar a very nice place to be.
The menu is sensible, not too expensive and to our pleasure, very well presented.
Our recent visit ( table for 10 ) was enjoyed by everyone and we will certainly be visiting again very soon.
