We stayed at the Dany for 5 nights (6 days) while visiting Rome. According to reports in the city, the Friday we were there was the hottest day for a century - never known heat like it, however the hotel was refreshingly cool, and the air con in the room worked fine, taking off the worst of the heat at night.
The hotel is very clean and spacious. The rooms are just how I like them - clean, simple and tasteful. The en-suite bathroom was well lit, had an excellent hairdryer, and the shower was fairly reliable (not too many cold/hot bursts) and powerful. Towels (large bath, hand and feet x 2) were changed every day without fail. The mini-bar (no alcohol, but plenty of canned drinks and snacks) was restocked every day. Every single member of staff was polite, friendly and very helpful especially a lovely lady who did some research for us on the internet for trains to Pompeii and the ticket prices.
The pool was just so, so good, just what was needed after a long hot tiring day in Rome - clean, quiet (except for the planes and trains) - there were never more than 6 adults by the pool in the day-time. About the planes and trains....the hotel is right next to Ciampino airport, and one of the main train lines to Rome Termini (train station) runs along side the hotel. It is noisy no two ways about it, but to be honest it didn't bother me in the slightest and the noise didn't once disturb me at night and I'm an exceptionally light sleeper!
My only grumble, was the breakfast. The hotel calls it a Continental Breakfast, but it's nothing like any I've had in the past. There is 1 lightly iced croissant, 1 roll and 1 packet of a tiny French toast type affair, served with hot drinks, juice (which is actually squash - not even a concentrate), and various jams and butter. All waitress served which is nice, but it's not enough food to set one up for a couple of hours, let alone the day. Where was the fruit, yogurt, cereal I cried! I'd much have preferred the Continental style breakfast as offered by Holiday Inn in the UK. Now THAT's a decent continental breakfast.
That however is my only grumble - The Dany Hotel is excellent value for money and I would have no reservations in booking with them again!
Train station is 10 minutes walk up the road. Train takes 15 mins at the most to get into Rome Termini.
Do be warned. If you arrive in for your holiday at Ciampino airport, it will cost you 20 Euros minimum to get to the hotel which is less than 5 mins away. You can not walk it so don't attempt it! Some try to charge you more, so stick to your guns. We arrived after midnight - plenty of taxi's waiting. Taxi from the hotel to the airport if you ask the staff to book it, is 18 Euros.
