“Quiet beautifully located beach naturist camping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

A clean an decent naturist camping with beautiful remote and quiet pitches next to the beach. Friendly atmosphere and reception. Restaurant serves delicious food unfortunately a bit to pricy for a quick meal. The beach is sandy and the water sparkling blue, mostly visited by naturists who respectfully award others their bit of privacy. Direct surounding is not corsica's most vivid one but Bastia, Corte and Porto Vecchio are all at a bit more than one hour drive.

Riva Bella is in a superb naturist location with all the accommodation dotted just behind the beautiful , quite 1.5 kilometre sandy beach. The beach is effectively private for the use of guests as there is no other easy access other than through the resort site.

Our bungalow was a few steps from the beach , on shady sand dunes. The bungalows along the beach mostly one bedroom are getting to show their age however their location makes up for any short comings. However they are well equipped and kept spotlessly clean by the attentive and friendly cleaning staff. However to be able to get out of bed and walk a few metres have an early morning swim without having to bother with a costume in the calm, warm sea is paradise.

New larger bungalows with air conditioning have been built over the last two years, these are built and equipped to a very high standard, perhaps to appeal to the Spa users. But for us they do not have the appeal of the older type 1 bungalows directly overlooking the beach. Each bungalow is provided with two beach loungers and a beach umbrella these are all marked with your accommodation number, so you can leave the loungers on the beach for duration of your stay without someone else using them.

One of the pleasures of staying at Riva Bella is to wander along the entire length of the beach by the water’s edge, the far ends of the beach are almost totally deserted . When we stayed in mid-June the beach was un-crowded even though most of the accommodation near the beach was occupied. The ratio of beach to accommodation including camping is very high.

In 2011 a new family team took over running the restaurant and this is a vast improvement over what it was like in 2010, the pizzas cooked in an outside oven are fabulous. The restaurant overlooks a lagoon, this looks beautiful at sunset but mosquitos can be a problem, although they were in mid-June 2011. The beach bar too is now run by a new team although it did not open until mid-June in 2011. Try the local Rosé wine its superb and excellent value.

There is a small supermarket at the resort which is fine for everyday needs and they have fresh bread and croissants every day. There is a good supermarket , excellent boulangerie and other shops and restaurants in Aleria 10-15 minutes or so by car.
Nudity is the norm throughout the site and is obligatory on the beach however clothing must be worn at the restaurant, bar and shop. Riva Bella is a family run business with friendly, helpful proprietors and staff.

If you want a quiet , “away from it all” holiday with no loud disco, no noisy machines, no noisy people then this is place for you it’s fun and friendly but not 5 star by far.

Gripes: The bar was not open until the second week of our holiday, the shop had a better range of goods after the first week and the thatched beach umbrellas were not up for our first week, they were in 2010. Dogs are allowed but rules state they must be kept on a leash this was not always enforced during our first week but was during the second week.

Would stay again? Well yes we have stayed at Riva Bella seven or eight times.

Riva Bella is set in a fabulous beach side location. The sEa is never more than a few hundred meters away.
Reception was first clas, Restaurant is excellent, the Spa is top notch, the entire site is very clean the addition of the llamas and an entertainment programme add a quirkyness too. The facilities for campers looked high quality and very new.

In Early June the beachbar was still closed ..
The chalets are getting very dated .. there is some evidence of new build going on so maybe in time they will all be refreshed.

Would we go back again .. yes we would.
