“Great small hotel in fantastic location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

I spent four nights at Les Rochers this past week, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and while they may not be elegant, that's not high on my list of priorities. What was fantastic was the location in the Pyrenees foothills in a wonderfully preserved small village, with easy access to many forms of outdoor recreation; I'm my case, cycling venues that are incomparable. Having a half dozen spectacular Tour de France climbs within an hour's ride just can't be beaten...

Add to this the warm and friendly hosts, and excellent food in the restaurant, and you have a great combination! I can't wait to return with friends to share the riding with...

A family run hotel + restaurant; it is a very relaxed and pleasant stay. We stayed for 2 nights and the room was good size & comfortable, with bath and separate toilet. WiFi was free and worked well inside the room. Our room faced the hill but can still see the church from the side. The church bell does ring till around 9pm and from 6am (I think), but it’s nice and don’t bother us. The host, John & Jane were both friendly and treated us like their friends as soon as we arrived! There’s a different set dinner menu each day where you can see in the morning. We arrived just before dinner time and they have no problem to accommodate us. The meal, cooked by John, was just lovely and yummy that we didn’t hesitate to dine with them the next night. While the menu was pretty much set, they’re flexible as well if you don’t like or eat something. Good recommendation about wine and there’re books/ board games etc available in their well decorated/designed living/dining room. Oh, and FiFi, the hotel cat, is another gem!

My wife and I stumbled across this oasis while holidaying in the Pyrenees. We did not stay in the hotel so can only comment on the restaurant. It was spotlessly clean with a lovely typically French decor. The service was first class and the meal one to remember. The experience was so good we reserved a table for the following night The next night the restaurant was very busy
but the service was still to be applauded.
We cannot thank Jane and John enough for a wonderful two evenings of dining in a friendly and
comfortable environment.

Room Tip: If you are in the area it is definitley a good choice

We were four adult family members hiking daily in JULY 2011 (sorry for the delay writing this) and stopping each night for a lovely shower and dinner at hotels along our route. Les Rochers was a lovely, friendly hotel with a top notch restaurant and wonderful owners/chefs. We spent 2 nights there and the day off from hiking we walked down into town to a wonderful, large farmers market and lunched at a local restaurant instead of having lunch on the top of one pass or another.

Room Tip: Our rooms were picked for us. 2 needed a double bed with bath and the other 2 needed single beds wi...

Les Rochers is superb value. John and Jane were magnificent hosts from the moment we four MAMILs arrived, knackered from a day up the Tourmalet. The rooms are simple but perfectly comfortable (slightly noisier on the church side of the hotel), and the rest of the hotel's facilities are good. The highlight of my day, for the 2 days we stayed there, was a cold glass of the local cider before a delicious 3course dinner. So good was our first dinner that we cancelled our celebratory last supper in town in favour of John's bavette steak and a bottle of the local red (opened that morning on John's advice). Breakfast was simple but cheap (perhaps one area that could be slightly improved in the eyes of hungry cyclists). What really made our stay was John and Jane's unwavering helpfulness and friendliness. I have already recommended the hotel to a friend planning a trip to the Pyrenees and would do so again in a flash.

Room Tip: Think about church bells

Along way from Australia we found a home in the best part of the Pyrenees, "Les Rochers Hotel and the village of St.Savin". We had 5 adults & 2 children 7&5yo and we were looking for last minute accommodation after a large drive form Normandy. We scared ourselves by arriving in the city of Lourdes. My wife found an advertisement for Les Rochers in a popular travel guide while we were driving through the sprawl of neon lit hotels in Lourdes. We rang them to be told they could accommodate us and gave us the directions to get there. After some resetting of the Nav system we headed for St Savin. There was alot of comments in the vehicle of," I think we are lost again".We arrived in the beautiful village of St. Savin and found the signs to the Hotel. We were met by Jane & John with a very warm welcome and they appeared not to be uncomfortable or disturbed by our children. Our rooms were comfortable, clean and all had beautiful views of the village, mountains and surrounds,The family room was excellent and spacious. We had a look at the planned meal for the evening and had no hesitation to dine at the hotel that night & the other 4 nights we stayed with Jane & John. We took the Pension rate for the whole family which worked out to be very good quality & at a reasonable cost as well. The children loved the place and Jane & John. It was a great place to do our exploring from and the information supplied by our hosts was accurate and informative. Our only regret was we did not have more time to enjoy the fabulous facilities at the hotel in which we were encouraged to treat as our own, and spend more time in the village & Abbey itself. We must say that if we are fortunate enough to make it back to this magnificent part of the world and John & Jane are still in possession of Les Rochers, we will be back to stay again.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful and quiet, The family room is great.

I've recommended this place to all my close friends and family who live in the area. The room was superb. Two different views of the mountain range from our corner room, a lovely view of the gorgeous village church and sounds of cattle bells in the distance, what more can you want. I can't wait to go back and spend more time in that beautiful area! The hotel was good value for money, and the food was tasty and not "fussy"; great after a hike. A different set menu each day, but it was lovely that the owner was flexible and accommodated my preferences.

Room Tip: Room 10 is the best
