“Very stylish and comfortable, but a little far from the big chateaus of the Loire Valley”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2011

The decor and atmosphere were impeccable. You could tell they have put a lot of effort and care into designing this place. Every room has a different theme to its interior design, be it the beach or outer space or what. The only downside was that it is located in Montsoreau, which is about one hours drive away from the most popular chateaus (Chenonceaux, Chambord, and Cheverny). Aside from that, it is a lovely stay and doesn't lose any charm to the gites.

Our room overlooked the garden and was a nice size and so was the bed. Evrything you needed was to hand and the only quibble would be the hand held shower in the bath. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly both when we booked and when we checked in. A very nice overnight stop and a great dinner in the recommended restaurant.

This was a really sweet hotel with pretty decor in a lovely town. We happened to stay on a weekend the brocante market was taking place. The hotel put on a Sunday brunch for guests and market visitors. The brunch was heavenly - terrine to dream about and an abundance of perfect French sweet treats.

The rooms were really charming. Ours was upstairs overlooking the pretty garden (called Saison.)

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. All their restaurant recommendations were brilliant. Leave your restaurant bookings to them and you will be in very safe hands. We had exceptional meals at very good prices on all three nights we were there.

This was definitely a place we would return to. The town of Montsoreau is picturesque and the chateau in town is worth a visit (great views from the rooftop).

My husband and me went to France to meet some friends and decided to stay in an hotel in Montsoreau called La Marine de Loire. The hotel is absolutly wonderful, the deco is fantastic, the staff is very friendly and helpfull, it is now so rare to stay in such a place!! We had a really nice brunch in the garden. We'll come back again with no hesitation as within 3 hours from London (plane and car) you can feel like you're miles and miles away.

What a lovely surprise to arrive at this homely yet modern feel hotel. The service provided by Rachel and the other lady (forgot the name) is excellent and very personal without being intrusive. The lounge is perfect for a chillout and a glass of wine or hot chocolate. The rooms are modern and include touches like bathrobes and a flat screen tv. You can visit a couple of local wine shops nearby, and do some tastings and buy wine.

The hotel also has a small boutique where you can pick up some cute gifts.

Would highly recommend this for 1 or 2 night stay.

We spent two nights in this wonderful inn, well-located right on the river and a quick stroll away from several restaurants, wine shops, and a chateau/museum. The owner has an incredible eye for style, beautifying the rooms and grounds with simple materials like driftwood and bleached linen and a rusted bicycle perfectly placed amidst wild lavender. She serves cocktails in the bar and brunch in a sunny room off the garden, and also has a charming boutique next door selling clothing and home decor. She also went well out of her way to find us the perfect restaurant in the next town over on a quiet Sunday night. I really can't recommend this place highly enough.

This is the kind of hotel that you would prefer not to tell anyone about just in case it becomes so popular that you cannot get a room! We were in room No 1 which is a large room with a comfortable contemporary feel to it. The garden is small but superb with lovely sun beds. Overall, an excellent hotel with lovely owner, great staff, lovely little shop and a delightful lounge/bar area.

  • Liked — Lovely contemporary rooms with a twist!
  • Disliked — Lots of steps
