“Beautiful stay in the olive grove apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

We wanted to squeeze in a quick trip to the south of France after holidaying in the UK and popping over to Paris (you try and fit in as much as you can when you live as far away as Australia! :)). We drove all the way from Paris to stay for only 3 nights at La Bastide but it was sooo worth it! It was a beautiful apartment, with such a French feel and gorgeous setting! We sat out on our balcony every morning just drinking it all in! Gorgeous old village to visit with lovely restaurants. We also visited nearby Valbonne which is a lovely place to wander around with cafe's and lovely boutique stores in a really pretty and quaint setting. The kids loved the pool (we have 3 children under 8 yrs). Next time we plan to stay for much longer! Thank you Milly for an amazing stay and for being such a helpful and friendly host!

We recently returned home following an idyllic week stay in the lower garden apartment. Our first visit to this part of France - we usually holiday in Brittany where the landscape is very similar to home but given that the weather has also taken on a homely feel of late we decided to venture south in search of some much needed sunshine. We were not to be disappointed.... Travelling with 2 teenage daughters we were seeking a holiday that would provide lots of relaxation. The apartment was nestled into the hillside with a view overlooking the valley below. Green and pleasant as far as the eye could see. The apartment was furnished in a beautiful french traditional style but with all modern conveniences catered for. The beds were extremely comfortable with a good night sleep guaranteed. The balcony was a lovely setting in which to enjoy breakfasts, lunches, evening meals and bottles of wine. The balcony overlooked the pool, boules area and gardens. The pool itself was a great hit with the teenagers - lots of comfortable loungers and a selection of pool accessories for larking around. The gardens were well stocked with flowers, orange trees and olive trees. The village of Le Bar Sur Loup was only a 5 minute walk away. The architecture was simply beautiful as were the views of the valleys below. We were seeking a relaxing family holiday and we most certainly were not disappointed. Milly and Art were wonderful hosts, even allowing us to check in early on the day of our arrival in order to prepare a birthday tea for our youngest daughter. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the apartment - a rare chance to switch off and relax. Our only regret.... only staying for 1 week instead of 2.....

We stayed at the bastide as a family and had a wonderful stay there. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The appartment was very tastefully furnished and equipped with everything one could possibly need, and the garden was beautiful. Most of all we enjoyed the wonderful swimming pool which was big and deep enough to do a good swim anytime and at the same time had a shallow end where smaller children can have fun in playing in the water.

We stayed for a week in August after a week in Nice itself. The view from the balcony is superb and can be seen from the dining table and the sofa and armchair. The lounge is cosy and stocked with books and toys (hidden away) which came in handy for the children. We had a large outdoor area full of herbs and with an orange tree. It had a barbeque which we made use of and also the boule and the swimming pool. The pool is just gorgeous with the same views of the hills and trees. It was lovely and clean and the bed was super comfortable (and seemed much bigger than our kingsize at home). We loved the coolness of the apartment on a hot day. It seems a great area for cyclists - my husband certainly has hopes of a return trip with his bike and as a base everything is in easy reach by car. We particularly enjoyed a day out in Menton (which is beautiful) and an evening in Gourdon. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and were sad to leave.

We recently spent a blissful week with Milly and Art in Le Bar Sur Loup. We have visited this area before and love it, but now we have found the perfect accommodation. We stayed in the top studio apartment La Bastide Saint Christophe which was ideal for a couple. It was perfectly French, extremely comfortable; especially the bed. The apartment had every modern convenience you could wish for even a dishwasher. The wi-fi worked well but not around the pool, which is possibly a good thing! The apartment was very clean and extremely well equipped with linen, cutlery, china, glassware and coffee maker just to mention a few items. The pool is gorgeous with enough sun lounges and umbrellas for all guests (this is often not the case at some rentals).
As we are getting a little older in years we are getting a little fussier in our requirements and I could not fault this accommodation, it was perfect. Milly and Art were so helpful, nothing would be too much trouble for this couple as they make sure you have everything you need. I had a dental issue when I arrived in Le Bar Sur Loup and Milly kindly made me an appointment at her dental surgery and they were also brilliant.
There are wonderful walks, markets and restaurants in the vicinity of Bar Sur Loup so this makes a perfect destination both summer and winter. Nice is a 35 minute drive away and if you are in to Repetto ballet flats or perfume there is a Repetto shop in Cannes; a 35 minute drive away. We will certainly be returning, hopefully with our adult children, and will rent one of the other four larger apartments. This is certainly a home away from home.

We stayed at La Bastide Saint Christophe this July for a week using the top two bedroom apartment. The place is excellent and has a wonderful view. The apartment is clean and has fully furnished. The pool was excellent and the children loved the whole place.
the place run by the family and they are very friendly and helpful and you kind of feel at home.

We enjoyed staying here very much and we will definitely go again.
