“Wonderrful base for barra visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

We spent two days using Airds as our base and found it to be a superb B&B with stunning views and first class facilities. Val our hostess made our visit to the lovely island. She was brilliant and great fun and even spontaneously provided ice for late night wee ones! We were also advised very effectively on our itinerary and local restaurants during our stay.

This was our second stay at Airds on the beautiful island of Barra this time staying for (4) nights, again we found Sandra to be a excellent host,a nice welcome when you returned at the end of the day, normally resulting in a little chat.
We found the breakfasts very good, with a nice choice and the rooms very spacious and clean, and comfortable beds,we very much hope we can return one day to Barra, and would have no hesitation in staying at Airds again.

Very comfortable and clean, spacious (including use of large lounge) and welcoming. Breakfast all you could wish for.....and more. Nice position with plenty of walking options but also on the bus route to add flexibility to your plans. Ate twice at the local Heathbank hotel and very happy with quality of meals. Staying at Airds really added to the pleasure of our visit to Barra and we'll hope to return again. Thanks, Sandra!

Stayed here for three nights. We had a spacious modern room on the ground floor. This room and ensuite was also suitable for the less able. The Wi-Fi was good. There was also a comfortable modern lounge and breakfast room. Breakfasts were excellent and set you up for the day. Try the fruit roll as an alternative to black pudding! Sandra, the lady of the house was really welcoming, friendly and helpful. As a host, she ticked all of the boxes. The Heathbank Hotel is a short walk away for good evening meals.

Stayed for 2 nights and Sandra made it a home from home. Good sized ground floor room suitable for a wheelchair (if required - we are not disabled) with a view over the rear garden. Sandra was extremely helpful from advising on restaurants to where to see the best sunsets and planes landing on the beach. Breakfast really set us up for the day and we did not require lunch. Outstanding views from the breakfast room. Good Wi-Fi connection and a spotless en suite room

Sandra was a very welcoming host,we had room three upstairs which was spacious and comfortable. The view from the sunlit breakfast room was amazing. Barra is a small beautiful island with breathtaking scenery. Airds is very close to the ahrmoor ferry.

This was my 1st visit to the outer hebrides and we were made most welcome by the owner Sandra, who went the extra mile to make our stay dry and comfortable.
Great location in a quiet setting, excellent facilities and spotlessly clean.
Good quality and filling breakfast to set you up for a days cycle or walking, weather permitting.
Beautiful lounge to chill out in after a day exploring.
Would highly recommend and would stay here again.
