“Best place to stay in North Wales”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

We just had our second stay at Tal-Y-Bont Country House and it was as great as the first time. This country house is very nicely decorated, very clean and has stunning views of rural Wales. Ann&Denis are very lovely people and they look after you so well that you immediately get the relaxing feeling. Everything is just like what you can hope for from a great stay, even breakfast is tailored to your needs! We did quite a bit of travelling in the UK and can safely say that Tal-Y-Bont has been the best B&B we have ever been to.

If you are after an unforgettable stay, then Tal-Y-Bont should be your choice!

Wow! What a find this has been! We stayed here last week adding an extra night to our original 2 because we loved it so much. It is like staying with special friends, the banter with Dennis was hilarious and Anne is so lovely as is their country home. Their gorgeous dog Albert added to the joy of our stay. Breakfasts are amazing, great choice and great quality, the rooms are spacious and very cosy and inviting and the views to die for. The evening spent sharing a glass or two is one we will remember. We will definitely return as soon as we can, we enjoyed every minute. Thank you both very much.

We have just had another brilliant stay at Tay-Y-Bont.. It is nice to go in winter as the house is warm and inviting with a log fire in the reception room and a warm welcome from Ann & Denis, The breakfasts are a real treat with lots of choice and beautifully cooked. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the house is in a very pretty location with lots of interesting places to visit in the area.. We would certainly recommend staying here at any time of the year.

Like so many of this day and age, we have travelled to some great places and enjoyed each in their own way. Continually we reflect on our trips to try and pinpoint the common themes that weave throughout our favourite times.
Our visit to Tal-Y-Bont exemplified the qualities we return to every time; natural beauty, hospitality and great food. The local area is no less than stunning. The cottage is idyllic, exactly what we had hoped, and the hospitality in our eyes, is what made the place an unforgettable expeirience. Dennis & Ann, Albert, Tal-Y-Bont and the Valley are quite simply a must!

Just enjoyed a wonderful, restful five days at the Tal-y-bont B&B in Blaenau Ffestiniog. This was my second visit, and again I have not been left wanting or disappointed with my choice to stay in this idyllic location. The house is warm and cosy, even as winter looms, with two log fires to keep you toasty. The rooms are all tastefully decorated and thoughtfully furnished, with attention paid to detail. In fact, this is a strong point of the hosts (Denis and Ann), who will go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable – whether its cooking your breakfast just the way you like it, to suggesting a variety of local walks if getting out into the countryside is your thing. Fantastic location, both near to the coast (porthmadog and harlech are nearby) and the mountains (snowdownia) in equal measures. But if not going far is your thing, there is enough nearby to keep you occupied to – a 2-3 hour gorge walk can be made from the house and for those who can walk a little further, a disused railway runs through the valley.

Where to begin..........the most comfortable bed I've slept in for an age, the excellent breakfast, the quality advice about the area or the brilliant banter!!!
We stayed at Tal-y-Bont for a night ahead of a short camping trip in the mountains and we could not have had better hosts. The place is relaxed and exceptionally welcoming, I am happy to recommend it!!!

A warm welcome of tea and crumpets set us up for a lovely long weekend at Tal-Y-Bont.

The building itself is full of character features, (a former tollhouse), and the accommodation is everything you would expect, with the bedrooms all enjoying views over the surrounding welsh countryside. The breakfast is excellent, (the fresh fruit salad and home-made marmalade being highlights), again, with extensive views of the unspoilt valley as you eat. Anne and Dennis (and Albert!) proved to be interesting and warmly welcoming hosts, always ensuring the fire was ablaze when we returned from our evenings out!

Also, their advice on the local eating spots is not to be ignored, with several very good restaurants a short drive away. Other local highlights must include the Ffestiniog railway, the smoke of which may be visible from the b & b on occasion, as it passes on the opposite side of the valley. The slate museum is also not be missed, and is particularly under-priced (free!).

Overall, the highlight of the trip must be the hosts of Tal-Y-Bont; Anne and Dennis proved to be more than good company, and I honestly could not find any fault, except on occasion, the Welsh weather!
