“Is that a miracle or what!?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2014

My husband and I and three other adults were at the Wild Swan at the end of October 2014. We were supposed to be staying with the hockey team for a hockey tournament in Haliburton but as luck would have it, all the rooms at the hotel were taken and we ended up staying in Minden at the Wild Swan.

Bob, our host, was amazing. He is a warm and cheerful man who had plenty of stories to tell that kept us all entertained and laughing. The house is impeccable and the rooms just seem to call out to you. Coaxing you to just relax, unwind, have a tea and just be at peace.

Breakfasts are scrumptious and more food than most can eat. Fresh mixed berries, yogurt, coffee/tea, orange juice, hash browns, eggs, bacon and toast was what we awoke to Saturday morning. On Sunday it was warm homemade croissants, waffles, fruit, bacon, coffee/tea and orange juice.

Our weekend was jam packed with activity and it was nice to know that at the end of it all, we'd be walking into the Wild Swan to gather together, watch the hockey game (the Leafs lost, sorry Bob) and enjoy each others company as if we were sitting on our couch at home.

This was a great weekend for all of us, and we would definitely recommend the Wild Swan to all of our friends. We look forward to going back and hanging out with Bob again. This time in the spring, when sitting on the porch and drinking lemonade is the biggest thing we have to do all day.

My husband and I stayed at the Wild Swan for two days in September. We were there to do some atving. We loved the Wild Swan so much we are going back. Our host Bob is a wonderful man. He told us some funny stories. He went out of his way to make sure everything was beyond perfect. Our room was beautiful, romantic, comfortable and immaculate. The entire house is beautifully appointed with lovely antiques. Our breakfasts were magnificent and the presentation of the food was outstanding. We miss sitting out on the veranda having a drink, looking at the river, but most of all we miss Bob's company.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely. We had a river view.

Lovely old home in a beautiful setting, transformed into a small inn. Delicious breakfasts and many thoughtful extras for guests. Truly excellent value for the price. We enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back.

Room Tip: All 4 rooms are equally lovely.

We so much enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spot-clean, the food is excellent, and the hotel is decorated with much taste. The beds are incredible comfortable. Bob is amazing, the best B&B keeper ever, We loved our stay and hope to come back. Highly recommended.

The Wild Swan is not a dangerous (wild) place. It's a very stylish B&B with 4 guest rooms tastefully furnished and with a warm downstairs area and a covered porch perfect for early mornings or an evening coffee. Beds are comfortable, food is great; the view over the long lawn is of the small Gull River where people float downstream towards the town of Minden.

But the best part of staying at the Wild Swan is Bob, the owner. If you get him chatting with you, you'll find he is one of our unique people, a wonderful character worth the price of admission alone.

Room Tip: They're all nice, but if it's available, ask for the room with the large, bay window

I was looking for a nice place to spend 3 days in Haliburton when I discovered The Wild Swan B&B here on trip advisor. I couldn't believe the prices considering the pictures I saw online. The pics don't lie. This house on the river is gorgeous and kept flawless by the innkeeper Bob. Bob was helpful from the start fixing us up with ice and lowballs for our drinks. The breakfasts that Bob prepared were nothing short of heavenly. Not one complaint and all three days we skipped lunch. There is a lovely marsh with an extensive boardwalk just a few homes down the street. We saw a beaver first thing and we scared a few deer. Compared to other high end B&B's I've been to in the past- this is on par or exceeds the others in service and ambiance and beats them all on price. This is the sort of place you want to see succeed but also want it to remain a secret. The first question from this review page: Is it a trendy hotel? I hope it never gets trendy.... I'd rather it just be a secret for those who do their research.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Riverview and it is gorgeous. Large room with lots of space and a very big comfy...

My co worker and I were in Minden for business overnight. The room was beautiful but would be more suited for couples (the tub was exposed to the rest of the room). Our stay was very comfortable (awesome memory foam topper and linens). Bob is lovely and made us a beautiful tasty breakfast in the morning.. lots of food! Hopefully you have a big appetite. Overall great experience and would recommend for couples definitly!
