I had been to Elephant Reach with my family in December 2014. It is a beautiful resort nestled in Yala. The rooms are nice cottages with state of art amenities. The staff is extremely courteous. The resort is close to the Yala sanctuary. There is greenery all around, and a lot of insects too (as a natural corollary). But we did not mind that since we had gone there to have the feel of staying in the woods (and we enjoyed this feeling in every second of our stay here). The management has taken a lot of pains to give the resort a forest look, and full marks to them for that. Special mention about the chef and the kitchen manager. They served us delicious food, and were extremely courteous. The care and warmth they showed is worthy of appreciation.

Of course, how can we forget the hotel in charge Mr. Dcruz. He was personally there to assist us all through our stay. A humble, polite and extremely knowledgeable gentleman, we loved every second of his company. He shared with us several fine details about the history of Yala and Sri Lanka. His length and breadth of knowledge was commendable. Whether it was 9.30 pm in the night or 7 am in the morning, we found Mr. Dcruz around with his pleasing company. He is a true asset for the resort. The resort would not have been what it is without his warmth.

This resort is a must visit for nature lovers. Even otherwise, this is a brilliant place to stay in Yala. The resort had arranged for us a special tribal show consisting of local tribes. We enjoyed this show thoroughly. In a nutshell, we felt like home staying in this resort. Everybody was so keen to ensure we had a great stay here. The resort is a complete package in itself. 4.8 on 5 from my side to this beautiful resort. I am sure, people from across the world (irrespective of the country they come from) would love this place in totality. Go for it. If Yala, it has to be Elephant Reach!

Enjoyed 1 night here. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Sanjay the Front Desk Executive was very helpful and charming. Good pool table and bar. Food was tasty and had a good variety.

Lots of wildlife around the hotel.

We were staying in Ahungalla and decided to go to Yala for Safari. We didnt have a reservation however we called the hotel. The reception boy handled us well however we were insisting on a discount and he was not able to meet us our expectation. We were calling other hotels however I got a call from the Elephant Reach manager Percy who was very helpful and he was able to come close to our expectations. It was during the April peak holidays and the resort was full.

The food was simple and nice. Service was good but don't expect a 5 star service in a remote location. First day I was not much happy during lunch since I was expecting pol Sambal ( A Coconut Chutney). It was unbelievable that the chef served us a dish of Pol Sambol and dry fish. Am a Sri Lankan food lover and really enjoy my holiday.

Percy helped us with a contact for Safari Jeep. We were able to get a good deal since percy negotiated on behalf us. The staff is well trained and they will always smile and greet you. They are honest and most from the area it self. The hotel had a special Avurudu festival and we had a good time.

The rooms are nice and clean. The garden is well maintained. If you are on a safari its a ideal place and its value for money.

First impressions were very good - cool towel and drink on arrival and friendly welcoming staff. Grounds looked lovely and well set out, but downhill from there!

Our chalet was very basic and tired. Fridge locked for some reason and safe didn't work. The room looked clean on the surface, but shelves had old dirty paper on them, with dead mozzies! There was no mattress protector on the bed, although on request, an exra sheet was added. The shower head was broken and had to be hand held. The cords for the blinds were broken, so couldn't raise them to get some extra light int the room and one of the blinds had torn lining.

On return from our visit to Yala, it was dark and the lighting in the grounds was very poor making it difficult to find our way and get into our room. There were 2 lizards having a party on the walls - not an issue - but the cockroach and mozzies were!

Dinner was a set menu and although there was nothing wrong with the quality, the veg was stone cold. Breakfast was requested at 7am as we were being picked up at 7.30. Although the meal was pre ordered, nothing arrived til 7.10 and by 7.15 gave up on my boiled egg. It was boxed for me to take away!

Could be so much better!

This is by far the BEST place to stay in Yala or if you are traveling deep down south in Sri Lanka. Super location with great peace of mind. The rooms are real nice private chalets. The food is divine and the hospitality is excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and kind. The property is situated close to the Yala national park and with the help of the hotel staff you could easily arrange for a wildlife tour. I've visited Elephant reach twice and I keep wanting to go there more and more! You simply should check it out if you're in the Paradise Island!!
