“Great get away at an unbelivable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2014

Its in the middle of a jungle, yet the accommodation is clean and comfortable. Lovely tranquility;great food (the menu keeps changing each day, for each meal!) and the staff eager to please from the executive chef to the housekeeping staff. Animals loitering around the chalets is give a experience not to be had at other "jungle" locations.

Room Tip: I loved the jungle chalets. The sea view is pricy and not that great

A resort thats set in the jungle Only 5km from the National wild life park of Yala. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with great food. Very reasonable priced buffet and a good wine selection. Staff were very friendly.

Room Tip: All Rooms have good views

Our first night in Sri Lanka was the Lakeside in Colombo, wow 10/10, food amazing. Our expectations therefor were high going to Cinnamon Wild at Yala Park. OK, I know that people come to see the elephants and leopards, but dear me that is no excuse to lower standards in the kitchen. The buffet was fodder, not classy hotel food. The jungle chalet on the other hand was fine and the staff were nice enough so if it's the animals you want to see, great but don't go expecting a good hotel.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful place. Well placed to do a Yala safari.
Made the reservation through their head office in Colombo with a person who was not so freindly. We requested all our four rooms closer to each other which was confirmed at time of the booking confirnation and same has been overlooked. Only customer oriented party of this chain was the bell boys. They always had smiles on their faces and willing to help. Restaurant staff seemed annoyed with ther job and not friendly at all. Even staff at the reception didnt have smiles on their faces.
Food was not so good. Pool looked dirty.
Rooms were excellent. Specious and everything looked new.

This hotel was one of the highlights of our honeymoon in SL. We were in a jungle chalet which was nicely furnished - very comfortable and had a superb shower.
The experience here was unlike anywhere else - a wild elk decided to come and enjoy the kids pool one day for example!
The staff were very good, efficient, attentive and friendly. The poolside was one of the highlights - loads of areas to sit, poolside bar service and a very nice pool too. Access to the safari is very easy with onsite drivers - an absolute must!
We were here for 2 nights and were genuinely sad to leave.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2014

We decided to have a break from busy city life during August school holiday period with the kids. After many arguments all members agreed to visit Yala.

Usually we take Ratnapura route , but since Matara highway is there this time decided to travel via Matara. The drive was excellent and we reached Yala within 4 1.2 hrs.

We stayed at Cinnamon Wild for three days ( Two nights). Even though there is a severe drought in the area ,as a holiday maker I really enjoyed the entire stay. Even though hotel was full , and place was very busy ,GM Roshan ,Executive Chef Namal, F&B Amila & the team provided the best possible hospitality to my entire family and ensure that we were well looked after until our departure.
The rooms were comfortable , services amenities etc was quite good. Through out the stay the quality of food served was of very good & good variety. The service staff was well trained and good to see some village youth providing professional service. Hats off to the Training Team.
I as a veteran hotelier & hotel operation expert ,my eyes are well trained to find faults always ,but I must congratulate the entire team for the excellent work.

The negative points were that .
Yala is very dry & no rain for past six months, it was frustrating to see the animals suffer. Kirinda to Yala road is under repair, dusty but motarable . The Safari was not very pleasant , not many animals were seen ( except the beautiful leopard) The issuance of the entrance ticket to Yala is quite chaotic. Jeeps are quite noisy, and drivers should be more educated on jungle safaris. The place by the sea where we stop for the break, does not have any toilet facilities and area is full of garbage dumped by the visitors.

Room Tip: In my opinion Garden chalets towards the sea is better.

An excellent hotel on the edge of Yala national park. You can walk down to the lake next to the hotel, but beware of the crocodiles. After dark you are advised to be escorted by a member of staff when moving between your chalet and the restaurant.
Late afternoon, the monkeys come down to the swimming pool for a drink and then behave like a bunch of delinquents racing round the pool and climbing on the sun loungers.
