“Worth a look”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

Lovely old church, now sadly neglected, well worth a look. Castle ruins also interesting and wonderful views.

“A very interesting Church.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

This is a very interesting place to visit. It is amazing that the church was open and you can leave a small donation and light a candle for a loved one!

“Fabulous church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Felt very privileged to be able to visit this beautiful church. Quite breathtaking ceiling paintings and beautiful icons.

The Venetian castle has been restored inside to provide easy access for visitors and has lots of information on more recent Samos history.

“A woodland walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2012

This area is absolutely beautiful a meandering path through ancient plane trees will take you to a not to be missed Byzantine chapel the columns inside are amazing. Continuing on along a small stream you arrive at a waterfall that can be seen by a swim in the fresh water very refreshing! Further along and up a steep incline (stairs) will bring you to another waterfall.
Also along this trail is an ancient castle. There are many trails in Samos all of them leading to mountain villages, monasteries and mountain chapels. My favorite is from Manolates to Vorloites then up to the monastery and ending in Kokkari. The views on this trail are breathtaking. Make sure you have plenty of water and are a good walker and stick to the trail.
These trails are at thier best in April - early June and Sept.-end of Oct. when it is cooler.

“Trekking fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

A lovely hike into the woods, to the waterfalls. Observe the architecture of the old Metamorphosis church. Behind the church is a path leading up to the ruins of the Venetian castle. Don't forget your camera!
