“A hidden gem in Provence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Just like many other reviewers, we were passing by this place everyday duringour Provence holidays. Located next to a road, vineyards and fields it provoked our interest to find out more about it. We were met by a very friendly lady , who runs the place and made a reservation. A 3-meal menu of freshly cooked ingredients comes in large portions and though our family eats a lot in general, we were leaving the place with more than full stomachs. The food, the location and the kind service were amazing and well accompanied by white and rose local wines.
I agree with others that the service is not the fastest in the workd in Estellan, however, you do not come to a vineyard restaurant in Provence and expect 2 waiters around you. Instead you enjoy the "paysage" and the evening...

“When in Lorgues, you must eat here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

My wife and I had a wonderful meal at L'Estellan. Beautiful setting. It seems to be run by a husband and wife team and that is it. Food was cooked perfectly and the meal was absolutely wonderful. So great that I had to give the "wife" a hug. I truly hope they are successful because we would like to return and eat here again.

“Wonderful Surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

After having passed this restaurant every day to and from our holiday villa a couple of minutes away in Lorgues, and after a fun-filled day of Formula 1 driving at a close by circuit and the time getting to be rather late, we decided to try our luck at this small but charming neighborhood restaurant without any reservation or knowing what to expect. Fortunately for us there was one empty table, and the waitress kindly showed us to it. We got a copy of the day's menu and struggled to understand it as it was in French. Then the waitress explained it was a fixed 3-course menu for 25 Euros per head and there was no choice of dishes but just the set menu. Today was fish day, which for me was perfect but not so good for my partner as he hates fish. We informed the waitress and she immediately understood the situation and told us to wait while she asked her husband the chef what he could do. She came back a few minutes later with some hors d'oeuvres and said that everything was sorted and that my partner would get chicken instead of the fish. After that we got the first course, cream of celery soup, which was just superb. The main course was just as tantalizing and the desert simply delicious. This was one of the best meals of our trip if not the best, and we stumbled upon it by sheer chance. The food is simply amazing, made from fresh and regional produce in an exciting and creative manner. The service was very warm and the willingness to satisfy the customer and customize the menu on the fly was a more than pleasant surprise. Intimate and romantic, charming ambience, family husband and wife run restaurant, open only in the evenings from 7:30 pm every day except for Sunday and Wednesday, great-tasting, fresh and wonderfully presented dishes. Highly recommended!

“Freshly cooked food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

This restaurant deserves to do well as the food is good, freshly cooked, unpretentious but nicely presented. The menu changes daily. The menu is 25 euros for three courses and there is no choice but you can check what you will be eating on line a couple of days before. When we visited the restaurant had just opened but we have since heard it is getting very popular and Madame may need to hire extra help as service was quite slow but she is very friendly and welcoming.

“Brilliant transformation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Living in Lorgues, I'd been cycling past this small, deserted stone outbuilding for years. So, when I passed one day and saw the remarkable transformation that had taken place, we had to go and see what had become of the place. Immediate impressions were of a small but beautifully decorated conservatory. Glass walls on 3 sides makes you feel as though you're sitting in the middle of the Provence countryside. The ambience is wonderful.
As for the food, each day there is a different menu compiled from local regional ingredients. On this initial visit the food was as good as we have had from any of the best restaurants in the area. Preparation and cooking was excellent and, each dish wonderfully imaginative. And, at €25 per head, this is going to take some beating! Can't wait till the next time we go!
