“A monkey, a mongoose, and a rooster walk into a resort…”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

and find that they are at the Timothy Beach Resort in St. Kitts. No – really. My wife and I stayed at this 31 unit condo resort on Frigate Bay near the southern tip of St. Kitts recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and all three creatures I mentioned are prevalent on the property. There actually is a rooster, its mate, and what appears to be a son (we named them the Fowlers). They wander around the grounds all day with the rooster (Henry) crowing quite frequently. The resort sits at the bottom of Timothy Hill, named for the British general whose task it was to guard the island from the French. The hill, which is actually a rain forest, is home to many monkeys and mongeese. This is the only resort on St. Kitts that faces the Caribbean sea, so the water is calmer and warmer. This is a comfortable, friendly resort, with a staff to match. The Sunset Cafe restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring local produce and cuisine (try the jerk chicken crepe for lunch). Hats off to the restaurant staff, particularly Ashton, Juliet, Michelle, and Idetha. And while the resort is in a remote spot, it’s still only a 10-15 minute ride from the airport in BasseTerre, and is very close to the famed St. Kitts beach shacks, which have plenty of good food and entertainment (try the grilled lobster at Cathy’s (3 lbs. for $40.00), ribs at Buddies Beach Hut, and Thursday night reggae and a fireeater at Mr. X’s Shiggidy Shack. A short walk from the resort are some of the best restaurants on St. Kitts – Rock Lobster, Bombay Blues, and Ciao.
Some advice on the resort – make sure you get an ocean view room (otherwise you’ll be looking at Timothy Hill). There is also a near constant trade wind blowing (about 10-15 mph); one drawback is that there are no ice machines. The rooms are equipped with small refrigerators that do have one ice tray, but it doesn’t go too far. If you want ice, take the ice bucket from your room and head to the restaurant. (This will also give you exercise as the resort sits on the side of Timothy Hill. There is a good sized pool on the property, and the beach is very close (and no vendors to bother you).
All in all, St. Kitts is an undiscovered jewel of a resort island – 68 miles long with a total of 46,00 residents, 20,000 of whom live in BasseTerre. There’s lots to see on the island from forts to botanical gardens to lush rain forests. Food is very reasonably priced, and the liquor is, as the hostess at Rock Lobster put it, ”cheap”. So why aren’t you making your reservation right now? Maybe we’ll see you there – we are DEFINITELY going back.

Room Tip: Make sure to get an ocean view room

April 2013

A very pleasant stay for one week. If anyone is thinking of going to the Carribean.Timmothy Beach Resort is a great place to relax. The resort is friendly and the staff were very helpful.
Great Carribean breakfast consisting of eggs anyway you would like ,served with papaya and pineapple ,also omelettes and French toast , ,which was very surprising . Nice large room overlooking the Sea ,with excellent amenities. Fridge/ Freezer and nice large Bathroom with decent balcony. local fish restaurant Shakety Shak. Unfortunately they were out of lobster !! However mahi mahi was really excellent !! You will not be disappointed with local food.
The barman mixed me a terrific Piña Colada. Bar menu excellent with buffalo wings and burgers.

Room Tip: Book a standard room & then e mail the hotel to ask for a complimentary upgrade. It worked for me...

Not long back from a 2 week stay. Its hard to say more than whats been said before. We had a great deal on flights & accomadation all the way from Jersey in the Channel Islands uk. The staff were great as were the other people we met staying there. Rooms always kept clean. Resturant food was good, also some of the beach front eaterie's were very good. The pool was never crowded, sea was warm with plenty of sun beds on the beach. Snorkeling to the left of the resort was very good, even swam with Turtles on 4 occasions. St Kitts has a real beauty about it, with large unspoilt areas. All in all we had a great time.

Great location. Clean room. Friendly and helpful staff. Taxi service is usually readily available at hotel office and if not, they will arrange one to pick you up. We had a King with kitchen but did very little cooking as restaurants are only a short walk away. Don't expect to see monkeys. We only saw one small group in the undergrowth. Mongoose will cross your path when you head to the pool but will not act aggressive toward you at all. Be nice to the cats.....they are very sweet. Looking forward to staying there again.

Timothy Beach was exactly we wanted and needed. By no means luxury but clean, safe with great air con and a fridge! Also it was less than 2 mins to the water and several bars. We got a particularly good deal I think because we were there in May. Fridays and Sundays on 'the strip' - beach bars starting at Timothy are particularly good fun. It's also well placed to explore the peninsula and Basseterre. Free parking and internet included.

Room Tip: we went for the cheaper 'mountain view' room and I think it was lovely - quieter and you mig...

Very clean and great service. It's right on the beach and tons of places to go eat and drink in a 2-5 walk on the beach. They make sure your taken care of. Beds are semi-hard but clean which is a plus.

Wonderful place to stay in St. Kitts ! My wife and I came as part of our one year anniversary trip and we picked THE best place to stay! No question! It was quite, clean, nice and very friendly. It was perfect for what we needed. A very quiet hotel right on the beach with powdery soft sand and the beach wasn't a long beach but rather perfect since it seemed to be a bit inclusive and thus, not many there. Water was warm and relaxing. The staff at the hotel were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They always were working on cleaning up the grounds and making it very nice, although it was beautiful to start with but they'd make sure and say hello, welcome to the island and just chat with you, which is very refreshing. We ate at the restaurant a couple of times and liked it, the ribs were a lot better than I was expecting so that's what I had both times and not disappointed. If you're looking for a gaudy place that's all fancy and crowded then this isn't your place but if you want a secluded place with a friend staff, great rooms and right on the beach that's perfect for relaxing, then you must stay at Timothy Beach Resort ! You will not be disappointed !
