“A day out in Northumberland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

Rothbury is a good place for a pit stop on our drive up from Newcastle, we choose Elm tree coffee shop as it has no steps as you enter and go to toilet as one of our party would find this difficult. We have been 5 times now and have found the staff welcoming and friendly, we have a good strong coffee and we always have the scones with butter and jam as they are always delicious, the cakes look excellent but a warm scone and a good coffee is hard to beat.
We also stop in Rothbury for the butchers further down the street, sausages like no other, I always bring my cool bag to get them back home. We will be back for our scones and sausages.

“Home made cakes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013 via mobile

It's like walking into someone's house when you go in. Very helpful staff and fair prices. The cakes are homemade so vary day by day. They also do light lunches but we had already eaten so couldn't review them but they did look nice!

“Nice place for a coffee and a bite to eat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

Tucked away in the main street in Rothbury, this is a pleasant little cafe/tea room where one can relax for a few minutes over a nice hot drink and enjoy a bun, a snack or something a little more substantial. I wouldn't say it's a cheap option - but it is nice!

Called in to this pleasant cafe on a Sunday afternoon. Had cups of very good tea and coffee and delicious, moist and generous slices of Coffee and walnut cake and coconut cake. Friendly helpful staff and good service

“Good coffe and heavenly cakes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

We shared a mud cake with preserved cherries, shich was tasty indeed, but the apple tart ordered by the gentleman at the table by the window was also eyed enviously. A place to enjoy a treat (or two)!
