“A very well run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

I had a fantastic stay here .dinners were great with 3 choices of fish a lot of evenings. breakfast not so good, no fresh bread or rolls. towels changed daily and beds made. we had a back garden view from room 122 . sun from early in the morning until 1pm approx . a beautiful view of the lawns, pathway lit by solar lamps and palm trees full with lovely little singing birds all day long. entertainment was excellent but started and ended way too early it was all over by ten o clock.we done a lovely boat tour one day in mahon with glass side panels on boat one hour long. for about 11 euros . well worth it. No kettle in room which would have been handy.

Just returned from an excellent two week holiday at the Playa Azul, Menorca. The staff could not have been more helpful, especially Rosa on Reception. The Saga rep Jackie ensured that everything was perfect from start to finish. She really takes extra care of her guests. Room was on second floor with wonderful views of the small cove. Towels were changed daily. Restaurant food was of a high standard with plenty of choice. Best 3 star hotel I have stayed in. Would certainly return to this little gem in a quiet resort.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms have great views of the small cove.

We booked this hotel, on the previous reviews of the hotel by Tripadvisor participants - they were correct.
On our arrival we were allocated a room at the rear of the hotel without a sea view. When we asked the receptionist if there were any sea view rooms callable, we were given the keys to 316 and check it out before agreeing to move and pay for an upgrade - 12euros a day, but really worth it. After our meal each evening we would call in a local market for a bottle of wine, sit on the balcony and watch the sunset - brilliant !!
The staff, led by Rosa on reception and Javier in the restaurant were always courteous and very helpful !! Rosa set up a 3 day car rental from Overseas Cars - 88 euros including a full tank of petrol - which when returned - req to be full !!
The rooms were always clean and tidy - don't know the lady's name, but the cleaner on the 3rd floor was absolutely brilliant !!
Some slight problems, the Internet is not free - 15 euros for 7 days - good value I hear you say,and I would agree !! Only slight problem, to hook up you need to be by the bedroom entrance door, or sitting on the throne in the bathroom - not good when your daughter Skypes you and asks immediately, why was there a tiled area behind you, and if you try to go on the Internet whilst sitting on your bed, the Internet cuts out.
If you would have seen me and my wife some nights, you would thought that we had argued. She would be drinking wine on the balcony watching the sun going down, whilst I surfed the Internet for information about our destination the following day in our bathroom - brilliant - NOT !!!
My second small gripe, was the layout of the food in the restaurant, we didn't have much complaints about the food ( although some nights the food was warm only ). My concern is that if you fancy making yourself a cup of tea or coffee, you have to carry the boiling liquid to another part of the room o locate the milk - health and safety of other guests - specially when you think many of them using the hotel are from SAGA !!!!
I agree with one of the last Tripadvisor members, a paper information sheet within the hotel states that you should not reserve your sun lounger until 8pm. On our last day, I decided to go down and try and reserve a bed for me and the wife at 07:50 ( thinking I would have quite a choice of sun loungers ) but to no avail, all seats in the sun and loungers adjacent to sun loungers had been taken ( are the English the new Germans!!!! ). One fellow guest says that they were placing towels at 07:15 - HOTEL PLEASE MONITOR THIS There are nearly 180 steps down to the beach, and they want 17 euros for a lounger and parasol on the beach for the day.
I will also give reviews of restaurants and shops under "Cala'n Porter"

To conclude, a 3 star hotel, with excellent staff - with Rosa ever pleasant. You get exactly what you pay for and is excellent value for money !!!!

( Message to Rosa - Mr and Mrs Williams - NOT !!! )

Room Tip: Ask for a update to a sea view - excellent value when you consider the view and watching the sundown...

My wife and I holidayed with our Daughter her partner and our 18 month old grandson they had a lovely bungalow and we had a second floor bedroom. The hotel is very clean and bright with excellent staff throughout. The pool is not as big as shown in the video or the brochures but was large enough for everyone who wanted to go in. The Sunbeds are booked from very early morning so dificult to get one. The Hotel lets its self down, the restaurant is very small with very very limited choice although we were on a half board package we ate out most nights
The bar does not serve pints of beer which i thought strange until I realised the hotel had probably 80% of the Guests from Saga holidays who even have there own lounge, still enjoyed our holiday though

Have just returned from a week here with my son who has mobility restrictions. Everything was done by the hotel staff and excellent Saga rep. Jackie to ensure that we had a safe and happy week. The hotel is modern and clean and the rooms we got were each a good size. The food is of a good standard with sufficient choice. The pool area was always clean but get up early if you want a sunbed. The resort is quiet which was okay for us but could be very limiting if the weather is not good. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and I would return there anytime.

Just returned from a 10 day stay at the Playa Azul with my wife and 2 year old son. We stayed half board and upon our arrival were upgraded free of charge to a bungalow (B1). The hotel is very well kept, clean and it's position allows for a superb view of the beach either from the pool area or from some of the rooms. Our room was perfectly adequate, all though a little basic (but we didn't go to spend all our time in the room of course!). The maids do a wonderful job cleaning the rooms every day with the offer of clean bed linen every other day. We were supplied with a travel cot for our son which was all setup on our arrival. Food at the hotel is perfectly fine with a reasonable selection for different tastes, I have to say it wasn't as extensive as other hotels we have stayed in but I guess this is due to the fact the hotel only has 140 rooms. The restaurant is a decent size but we found that it got very busy both at breakfast (starting at 8am) & evening meal (starting at 7pm). The restaurant staff are fantastic (when you consider they must work some long hours!). A special mention to Javier in the restaurant who was a very well mannered and polite gentleman who made our son's day every time we went there. The pool area is again very clean and well maintained. My only gripe is the lack of sun beds which if you weren't careful and got down to the pool early you wouldn't get one (yes those kind people reserving sun beds despite the notices stating it wasn't allowed!).

Safety deposit boxes are available but are chargeable (a refundable deposit of 6 euros plus weekly rental).

Pool towels are available but again are chargeable.

All in all, this was a fantastic hotel which full filled our expectations. The island of Menorca is beautiful and one day we will return.

Please ignore the fitness centre review (there isn't one).

Just returned from a week in the Playa Azul Menorca all inclusive. The hotel is very modern, very clean & all the staff are very friendly. We had a room with a sea view which had a fantastic view but the room was tiny & we had to put our cases under the dressing table. The food is buffet but plenty of choice, even the fussiest of people would find something, I loved the desserts. The restaurant is spotless but a bit canteen looking. The only fault we could find was the directors chairs in the bar & poolside, my partner has rheumatoid arthritis and found he couldn't sit on them too long, we also couldn't get a sunbed all week I counted about 50 sunbeds for a hotel with about 150 rooms so you had to set the alarm for 7am to put your towel on the sunbed, some people claimed them all day & went away for hours leaving their towels on the sunbed till they got back.
