“loved the marina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2008

Booked a private apartment from losgigantesdirect.com overlooking the Marina and could not have been better. Well equipped kitchen nice lounge/ diner with television and players of all kinds, clean and well decorated 2 bedrooms and bathroom with extra toilet room. Balcony for people and boat traffic watching.

We have been to los gigantes before but in Hotel.

What freedom this gives to try the fantastic restaurants, not jessies though as too pushy to order overpriced fish. Try them all as they all seem better than the so called best restaurants in England and it is exciting to try each one. Could not decide on a favourite.

Pool is just across the road and is great with bar/restaurant for good lunch. Another good pool sited a short way above with another of their apartments close by.

Seems not worth the longer plane trips when this resort is fairly near. Caution though with the village hill it may not be suitable for those who find walking difficult

we stayed at the pablado marinero appartments for a week april 9th-16th 2008
we had a lovely holiday, we stayed with our 3 young children and found the appartments to be very spacious, although basic kitchen euipment, it was very welcoming, clean and a perfect base.friendly staff.
towels and cleaning regularly although 9 in the morning ws a tad too early for us!
the position of hotel was perfect, fantastic veiws, beach small and safe, lido lovely although would reccomend oasis pool nearby clean, safe fab veiws- suntrap!
our kids loved it, not much night entertainment although paddys was good and its worth going to little italy for meal- lovely and fairly priced
highly recommend loro parque excursion- fantastic full day out, whales and dolphins are unreal! but be prepared for a 2 and half hour boring bus ride!
all in all great holiday!!

Stayed at Los Gigantes, Poblado marinero apartments for Easter 2008. Booked from Thomson website. Good value overall. Basic furnishing but clean and functional. Small kitchen with oven OK. Very quiet except for bin lorry at midnight. Reception efficient but not much information offered in the folders. Needed to ask where the laundrette is hidden. Would advise hiring key to room safe and also portable TV (English channels). only 2-3 euro per day with 10 deposit. Buffet breakfast is 6.50 Euro.
Plenty of small supermarkets close by and at back of apartments.
Residents have free use of lovely lido opposite side road. Good poolside cafe with nice waiters.
The apartments are in a good location next to the small Los Gigantes marina. There are lots of bars and restaurants around the village but be prepared that it is a small place with not much else to do if the weather fails. The local beach is not attractive. It is small and dull grey, shaded most of day and huge harbour wall at the side. You can catch the local buses from the leisure centre and take the 473 or 477 to Los Cristianos about an hour away.
Transferred from airport to Los Gigantes using ResortHoppa. Highly recommended. Faultless efficiency.
Tried several bars and restaurants of varying quality. Comments as follows-
The Harbour Club wine bar/veranda (uphill near leisure centre) - Lovely place to have a coffee and tapas while admiring nice view across to Gomera.
El Pescador (near church) - good steak and fresh sole. need to book if you want best tables in window.
Harbour Lites (far end of marina) - good mexican bistro style. Fairly expensive (80 Euros for 3 people inc. drinks)
Little Italy (just uphill) - nice steak but disappointing pizza. "tastless cardboard".
Entertainment -
Went on Flipper Uno boat trip to see dolphins. Offered 25 euros each at main kiosk opposite lido. seemed best deal. Boat trip was good fun. Dolphins jumped well. Drinks and paella lunch included. Stopped for cold swim in Masca bay.
Hired small motor boat from Gigant center left side harbour. 28 euros per hour plus fishing rods can be hired. Easy to drive but water a bit choppy. Beware if any seasick tendency.
Several bars have evening shows with singers and tribute acts. Try T.J's with jolly Irish landlady and Highland Paddy for bigger acts.
This resort is dominated by retired expats and the entertainment is geared for that. It is not suitable for teenagers or those looking for a lively holiday. Unfortunately the weather was cloudy and windy while we were there. It was frankly a bit boring so I would recommend hiring a car or going on excursions as much as possible.
The current poor money exchange rate for the euro has affected tourist numbers and I forsee difficult times for the local businesses here.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2008

Went to Tenerife in January 2008 and stayed at the Poblado Marinero Apartments in Los Gigantes. We went for the weather but thoroughly enjoyed our break in the sun. Even the days that they said it would rain it was 23 degrees.

The Apartments are basic and past their sell by date but once you accept that they offer great value as their size is super. The good points - the staff were very friendly, the beach was great and it's dirt cheap to eat out!! The bad points - only one really - the Lido pool is FREEZING!! Stay out of it and get into the sea -big waves and lots of fun.

We had two children with us 12 and 16. Thought that they would go out of their tiny minds with no TV, Play Station or computers!! But they survived the two weeks exceptionally well.

The markets are great value and the taxis cheap. Compared to Los Cristianos and Playa Las Americas this village is VERY quiet. If you are looking for a good value while eating out then try Little Italy or La Bodeguita. Also the para gliding is great.

Can't wait to return.

The apartments we clean and spacious over looking the beautiful harbour. The pool was large and close to the apartments.

The beach was also very close and there are so many nice resturants to chose from.

Try The Harbour lights at the end of the harbour for excellent mexican food.(You may need to book)

Miranda's which is opposite the hotel los Giganties, which does amazing french food.

Sinatras- quite expensive but a lovely meal which is near the highland paddy in the square up from the church.

Love Los Giganties.
