“OVERBOOKING !!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

I see that I am not alone with my overbooking problem. I booked this hotel 4 months before our departure. After reading severall reviews on the internet about overbookings we contated the owner severall times. But he is the tipical Manuel from fawlty towers. NO worries Sir. Everting is OK Sir. But 6 days before our departure he send us an email that he has overbookings and we can not stay in his hotel. He gave us a link to an alternative hotel from time sharing. Which WE needed to contact and book ?! Off course we did not make a booking in that hotel because we were not interested to be bothered every day by salesman that want to sell us a time sharing.
I find this extremely unprofessional and if the owner does not get his act together I am sure he will loos all his business. So if you want to have a problem free vacation do not book there.

We booked these apartments in July 2012 however having read recent reports of overbooking, we decided to e mail the hotel direct to confirm they were expecting us. They did not reply to our e mail so we went through booking.com. The manager confirmed with them that they were indeed expecting us and there was nothing to worry about.(incidentally, this was on the Sunday prior to our departure. The manager reassured booking.com that they would also drop us a reply e mail. Anyway, Wednesday comes and we still have had no reply, then, Wednesday night we get an e mail from the Diamond Apartments stating they are overbooked however he can arrange for us to go somewhere else. There was not even an apology. I did not trust him, so booking.com arranged for us to go to another hotel. As this was less than 3 days before we were due to go, we had no choice on alternative accommodation as everywhere was booked. we accepted the one offered and it was was not up to much. However, the location of los gigantes and santiago is beautiful!! would recommend. Very quiet for teenagers though, a lot of retired people at this time of year. Anyway, Booking.com informed me that they have removed this accommodation from their site. We even met 2 local people who laughed and said they weren't surprised. If you get in, you will have a good holiday, however be careful!!!

We have travelled as a family to Los Gigantes at Christmas-time every year for the last seven years. Christmas Day 2011, we booked and paid a cash deposit for a lovely 2 bedroomed apartment for the following year to Julian, the Manager. Arrived 15th December 2012, feeling tired but looking forward to starting holiday. Upon arrival were told by the Son who has no concept of customer service that the apartment is "busy" (and no apology) and we would have to stay in a one bedroom apartment for the first 4 nights, then when our room becomes available, we would have to move. Son told us that his Father was 15 minutes away, an hour and a half later, he arrived. This family are compulsive liars and not to be trusted, unless you are happy to begin your holiday with lots of stress, DO NOT BOOK. He has a record of overbooking, look at the other reviews and BEWARE and most of all, do not believe a word either the Son or Julian say, they just can't help themselves but tell lies! I fail to see why, when we booked one year in advance, the room should have been otherwise occupied?

Room Tip: book somewhere else

We were booked here for one week 23.11 to 30.11 We arrived early . The receptionist said that he had rung our uk tel. 2 hours earlier to confirm our booking but had no reply .He then said do not worry i have booked you into a 4 star hotel 1.5 miles away. We asked to see the manager and were told he he was unavailable for the rest of that day.He had our email address which he could have contacted us any time. We were in Tenerife the previous week

The alternitive hotel was much inferior with no sea view and at the same price fixed between the two hotels and not negotiable

We are very upset and thought double booking was a thing of he past

Had a wonderful time the apartments are very good, kitchen appliances good, shower good, bed very comfortable and very clean apartment. Needs more pillows for beds to be available, had to ask for control for air conditioner as it was not in the room, wonder if this was taken out on purpose as it was given without any problems from office desk when asked about.
Lovely area around pool always enough sun loungers without having to save them with towels, that helps with the stress levels! The views from the balcony are amazing we just could look out at any time of day and night and was wowed from the sea views to the cliffs and the twinkling lights over the town at night. On the down side understand there had been problems with overbooking and as such Thomsons are not using these apartments next year this just makes alarm bells ring, we didnt have any problems and had booked third party on internet, but did hear of a couple of hitches while we were there with room problems I hope the owners sort this out because it was truly a really nice place to stay.
Fell in love with the Tipsy Terrace and loved going for morning coffee and later for a meal in the lovely atmosphere. Think I wouldnt mind a job there waitressess were about my age, could just see me there!!!!

Well what a pleasant surprise, fantastic, clean, modern appartments. I doubt i'll ever go anywhere nicer for the price, breath-taking views and friendly staff singing everywhere they go. Lacking a 24 hour reception and sometimes a pool bar that isn't open at appropriate times, but that can be forgiven, a big hill but that's easy to get use to after a few days. A quiet area but very relaxing,(I did go during the euros) so slightly busy then. Lovley places to eat and also a nice small beach, this can be messy however because of the volcanic ash, sometimes the sand does get very hot so dont forget your flip flops.
All in all a lovely place to visit in spain, I would definately go again.

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the harbour are best rooms 3 and 4/ 7,8,and 9

These are lovely spotless well kept apartments, with a lovely pool and sea views, nothing to complain about at all, but if you dont like hills the area might not be for you, though there are plenty taxis if you cant face the walk back from the pub.

Room Tip: all the rooms are with a sea view
