booked holiday with lowcostholidays.com cost £780 with flights transfers and 1 bag 20kg all inclusive for 2 adults.flight was with tomson and was good on time and film for the 4 hr 10 flight time.arr at tenerife south and had to wait for approx an hour for our transfer the company was resort hoppa but once on our way the transport was comfortable and took about an hour to get to the hotel.checked in at the hotel at about 1 30 am and found the reception to be cheerful curtious and we were soon in our room.the room was fantastic,clean with sea view and large double balcony with french doors from living room and bedroom it had ac and a fridge tv hairdryer and safe if req.towels changed every 2 days and you could get pool towels from reception.the pool was clean but small for the size of the hotel and sunbeds were very close together and again not enough for the amount of guests.pool bar was help yourself to spirits beer slushies icecreams and you could get snacks to order.breakfast lunch and dinner all not great but edible some odd combinations and limited choice not good for kids if our 5 yr had come with us she wouldnt of touched a thing.the beach was a ten minute walk away but was very clean with sunbeds for hire at 3 euros each and parsols 3euros toilets 20 cents showers 1 euro all clean and well kept.the sea at this time of year was rough and the lifeguards were stoppin kids going in the sea.they also did not allow ball games on the beach it was not kid friendly at all.we ate at a restaurant called ninos just up from the beach and it was fantastic.overall i would say this is an average hotel and resort not good for kids we had a nice time but the all inclusive food was disappointing and we spent way to much buying food elsewhere.if you can get it for around 500 to 600 then prob worth it but it wasnt worth 780.good luck.we wouldnt go back so i guess that sums it up

To those of you who don't remember, the title does make sense !

I always try to write a balanced review of where I go, especially holiday ones, as I always value other peoples honest opinions before booking a holiday hotel, so here goes...

Check in, no problem for us. Arrived about 1pm, and were told check in was a 2pm. Went for lunch and came back about half hour later. Room ready and spotless.

Rooms are roomy enough, and plenty room for 4 with 2 in a twin bedroom and 2 on the reasonably comfy double sofa bed. Fridge in the room but that is all, no kettle etc
If checking in you want a room on the pool side as you get loads of evening sun and a great view - other side of the building not so good (well, opposite actually). Morning sun only and not a great view.

We had a problem with a water leak from the sink. We reported it to reception and it was fixed next day, that for me was good enough.

As far as I can remember room was cleaned every day (maybe not on the middle Monday, but no big deal for us). Air con in all rooms and free TV

The pool itself is a cracking pool for swimmers, but the main pool has no shallow end at all apart from the steps into it. There is a baby pool, no big deal again for us, but this was shut for at least 4 days we were there due to problems with chemicals / pipes.
Pool was never too busy at all, and plenty room for a good swim.
Big downer for me about the pool was queuing for sunbeds from 9 / 9:15 and a manic stampede when the doors opened at 9:45ish. Bottom line, not enough sunbeds and pool opening hours not great - I like getting down to pool for a swim before brekkie, but not an option here.
Towels are provided by the hotel which was good, and can be changed every 3rd day, or pay an extra £1 to change early

The dining room has plenty space, and a nice seating area outside where you can get a seat most nights. To be honest pretty usual all inclusive grub, good when we got there but seemed to go downhill the longer we were there. Biggest food gripe was actually breakfast - I am used to waiting impatiently for eggs in the morning - you will not wait here, they must do about 200 at a time and keep them in an oven, suitable for use as ice hockey pucks. Scrambled eggs not great either, and bacon & sausages iffy.
Best grub actually available at pool where you can get burgers / hotdogs at the bar or make yourself a toastie which we got into the habit of doing.

Our youngest got into going to the kids club which was pretty well set up. There is a Wii, but only gets used for 2 hours per day to keep the bairns off it and doing other things, which is a good thing

Evening entertainment was to be honest pretty poor. The best entertainment was the night the put a Pink Floyd concert on the big screen ! Bird shows etc always seemed to be pretty late, usually scheduled for 10PM

Choice of drinks was the usual for cheapish all inclusive. Self service during the day til 8pm which is always handy, and inside bar until 11

The staff of this hotel are definitely as asset. We had the misfortune to have a few problems during our stay that were not to do with the hotel, and the staff on reception, particularly Miguel, helped us as much as they possibly could.

In summary, you could have a good break here at a reasonable price, but as always expect what you pay for.
If you want to go around picking faults with a camcorder glued to your face recording problems you will fill your day joyfully. But at the same time if you want to turn a blind eye to its wee foibles is not that bad.

There is also a chance that you might see Basil out in the street beating the crap out of his Austin 1300 with a tree branch on Gourmet Night (which is Thursday, book early !)

PS Speedos and a cowboy hat ? Could anyone think that was a good look ?

Hi, just returned from 14 days at the de Cesar. Staff were lovely...except, if you had an issue with anything. Too many tales of woe from other residents to list, so read the reviews carefully if you are planning a 'budget holiday'. If you like lying three inches from someone you don't know in 29 degrees sun, then this is the place for you. Access to pool at 10am and disputes over sunbeds raised the already hot temperatures. Come on management, get your act together, it's not the 1970s! Too few sunbeds and too many guests wanting one meant that people who wanted to relax had to go elsewher. The roof has a few sunbeds but no shade or bar. Don't go here if you have light skin. Umbrellas are fixed and with so little room to manouver, you will fry. Meat and cheese in a clear plastic tray left baking all day in the sun. This is what adults and kids get their toasties from during the day at the pool. The fact that a number of adults and kids ended up in bed with diahorrea is little wonder. The rooms were nice and big altho, I wouldn't expect too many people go to sit in their room. Lots of residents gave up and went to the beach daily...less stressful. Food okay. Entertainmaint the worse we've ever came across. The entertainment board said kiddies disco every night. Unless this took place in a different part of the hotel, then the new friends we met with young kids were not told about it. The fact that there is no outside seating area ( apart from the smokers huddled on a fire escape immediately outside the fire exit) in the evening means you are 'locked-in' to a confined sauna of a lounge, that at a push, has two people behind the bar serving up drinks, coffee etc. Be prepared to wait to get served. This is not, I repeat not, a four star by any stretch of the imagination. The area around about the hotel is extremely tough if you have a mobile issue. Don't go if you have trouble walking. Best restuarant in town? Pancho's opposite Blarney's the (expensive) Irish Bar. If the hotel took more advantage of the roof i.e more beds and shade (movable umbrellas) , it would take the pressure off the pool area. What more can I say? Over to you all to make you're mind up. We won't be going back.

The one thing that really annoyed is about this hotel is lack of sunbeds, there just isn't enough for the amount of guests!! The pool opens at 10, people start queuing before 9:30 to make sure they get a bed and they are all gone straight away! Also, we arrived at the hotel about 1ish but were told the room wouldn't be ready until 2, and we still had to wait after 2pm. Another couple who had booked were told the hotel wad full & were sent off in a taxi to another hotel!! Room cleaned a couple times but towels not changed all week. These little faults aside we Had a brilliant holiday, food & drink great!

Just returned from spending a very disappointing week at the Lagos de Cesar (7th October to 14th October). Many of our experienes have been documented by others who have written reviews. The only outdoor seating area at this hotel is beside the pool; you cannot sit by the pool before 10.00 am. When you are allowed to enter the pool area there is a mad rush to secure a sun lounger (many of them are broken). The sun loungers are crammed together, leaving you with very little personal space. There are two rows of loungers and inbetween the narrow passage, staff travel up and down from the kitchen to the pool bar with equipment and supplies; not ideal. If you decide to have a toastie at the pool bar, you are asked to make this yourself with ham and cheese that has been lying in a non-refrigerated container on a counter from early morning until evening. Despite the hotels' directory of services saying that the rooms would be cleaned daily, on the third day our room still haadn't been cleaned. When it was eventually cleaned, we were given towels that were stained and had to be returned. The quality of the towels was very poor and threadbare. The hotel does supply pool towels; however, these can only be changed every third day. If you want to change them sooner, you are charged one euro per towel. The food in the hotel ranged from mediocre to poor with a very limited range. The quality of accommodation was basic: the carpet in the hall and stairs was stained and threadbare; the paint on the bannister was chipped; plaster work on wall in a state of repair and the tiles in the bathroom left a lot to be desired. I cannot understand why this hotel is rated as a four star. I would only rate it as a two star. This feeling was shared by everyone that I spoke to at the hotel. There was a great feeling of having been duped.

Arrived to hotel just as pictured in ads, very good check-in and reception service no time at all and off to our room. Our room was on the first floor and to be honest - huge for just two of us!
All the staff go beyond being helpful and welcoming felt more like 5*. Self service was a great option all inclusive and enjoyed more than a couple (not half as much as the lobster red germans though!) top stuff! The hotel is ideally located only 5 mins from the gorgeous black sand beech with two sunbeds & a parasol costing a very reasonable 9 euroes. The resort of Los Gigantes is a stunning coastal walk through some gorgeous villa estates within walking distance but be warned its fairly steep and maybe a bit too much for young kids or elderly. Taxi's will take you there for around 3-4 euroes or the buses run all day.
Me and my partner would definately return it was unforgettable.

We arrived @ the hotel lagos de cesar on thursday 6th oct 2011, we were greeted by a funny little man at reception who was very pleasant and more than helpful with our questions.
The room was better than expected after reading previous reviews and we were more than happy throughout our stay, rooms could of been changed more often but really wasnt a problem. A kettle in the kitchenette would of been good, the fridge freezer was a godsend for icelollies and drinks etc.
All members of staff from cleaners to waiters and receptionists were very helpful, always smiling, never rude, and made the stay pleasant.
The entertainment was to be taken with a pinch of salt but certainly wasnt depressing, raised a laugh a good few times.
The food was great, breakfast was best, cant comment on the lunch menu we never tried it, evening food was good was plenty to choose from and something for everyone., men not being able to wear vests for the evening meal was a bit silly as it was still very hot in the evening, but wasnt a problem.
Self service drinks were great slush puppies for lil feet was spot on. Beer was fine and not a bad taste or stomach at all, hotdogs and burgers at pool bar werent bad either.
Not enough sunbeds on the terrace, but wasnt a problem as we wanted to go to the beach every day and when we did use the pool it was later on and had thinned out.
The roof terrace was massive and could easily be used for better purpose, a bar, more sunbeds and music would be a start. Did have some target practice with a rifle on the roof terrace was all very laid back as is the hotel throughout.
We found this hotel clean and friendly throughout our stay, we didnt expect the ritz and we didnt get the ritz, perfectly happy with our hotel choice and holiday, thanks hotel lagos de cesar, we would definitely return. great for the price, and better than expected,

Room Tip: be happy with what you get..Enjoy your holiday !!!!!!!
