“We actually enjoyed it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Went here with my daughter and after the reviews we were expecting the worst, but i have to admit i don't see why people are moaning so much, reading reviews that the place is dirty, nothing to do etc etc, we were self catering and ate out every day, food was cheap in the nearby restaurants and really good quality, the British bar "outside inn" where we found a lady called Nikki and gave us lots of information regarding the area and does a lovely English cooked breakfast.
We walked 15 mins into los gigantes and 15 mins the other way into another town, if you fancy a day out go up the steps opposite the hotel (118) steps !! and go left at the top to the bus stop and get the 477 or 473 into los christianos or las americas for a day out, or walk over to los gigantes (3 euros) in a taxi which has lovely shops, harbour, restaurants and bars, you can get some good deals on dolphin and whale watching boat trips or go out on jet bikes, personally i wouldn't eat at the hotel as a lot of people had food poisoning while we were there.
Really cheap place to eat and drink out as its a tax free island, YES we would return again, my advice go self catering and ask for a room over the quiet pool area as the other pool is very noisy.

Room Tip: Choose room over quiet pool, we were in room 402 ans was quiet

We arrived at the hotel and all seemed nice, the room we was allocated was spacious and had its own kitchen area. We decided to grab dinner in the buffet restaurant, we was happy to eat what was there and our 2yr old ate something too. The next morning we went for breakfast, my son went to eat his egg when my partner stopped him, and removed a LARGE egg shell. When mentioning this to our rep he said we need to tell the men in white shirts in the restaurant otherwise nothing would be done. We left it, thinking everyone makes mistakes. However my partner then found some in his, he complained, they took his plate away and threw it away. They didn't even say a word, not even a sorry. My partner went and got a new fried egg and found more, after 3 plates and the restaurant manager saying nothing we gave up. This happened most mornings. We booked a table in the pizza restaurant of which was awful, the pizza was so hard you couldn't bite it and trying to snap it in half was near enough impossible. There wasn't much choice of pasta and our 2 year old refused to eat any of it, we all gave up and walked out. The rest of the stay the food didn't look nice, I did try some but wasn't nice either. We ate out or went to the supermarket making the holiday more expensive. The next night our son was very ill, we booked a trip to loro parque of which is was sick the whole 2hour trip up to park. When returned the rep said yes there's a sickness bug going around every 5weeks here. I then myself fell ill a couple of nights after. There was a few people who said to us they had been in hospital with food poisoning etc, although we think ours were a air born bug, that the resort can't get rid off. Although the natural pool was really good, a little slippery for children, loro parque was incredible for children our son loved every minute of it. We adventured to Siam park on local transport as Thomas cook don't do trips there although sell tickets. It was a nice family day out. Tenerife its self was nice and welcoming. The pool areas at the hotel were washed down every morning and there was people putting towels out at 7am. The pools could do with a lick of paint. The children's pools had a slope as u stepped into them of which my partner went to help our son in and he fell over catching his back. The hotel lift likes to close quickly on you I have received a bruise on my arm, from being shut on, I did try to run in with the pushchair. Overall the experience was interesting, however we will not be returning. We had quality family time and that is great!

My daughter and i booked a late deal to The Tamaimo Tropical and i had read the reviews,we arrived about midnight and were checked in quickly but on entering the room it had a double bed when we requested twin single,s...not a problem though as we went back to check in and were upgraded to a bigger room so that was a nice surprise,..It is only a 2/3 minute walk to plenty of bars and restaurants and only a 10 minute walk the town below Los Gigantes. The hotel has plenty of sunbeds available.staff were pleasant and helpfull, the only negative was the food but all in all it was pleasant enough...Would i go back there?yes but on a self cateing basis

Me and my girlfriend have just returned from holiday we havent a bad word to say about the hotel, food and the staff were great. We found the thomas cook rep Neil very helpful he was there regulary and was very pleasant. We unfortuntly was stupid enough to go on a free trip to the market or thats what we fort it was but in reality we found nothing in life was free specially in this case on the way to the market we stopped of for what was ment to be small presentaion the weather was nice and was told to go sit in a room if we didnt participate with any of there regulations we would be left to make are own way to the market or back to the hotel, unfortuntley we didnt catch the ladys name who was talking to everyone in such manor but was a large women who claimed to be from manchester when entering the room we took a seat and listened to the presentation about Pal mattresses being safe and could possible prevent heart attacks after nearly two hours of listening to this and ridicoulus claims and being told if we want a PAL mattress they would cost £899 they nearly caused us to have a heart attack at this stage lol we was usherd on the coach and taken to the market were we had an hour to shop in total we was with them for 5 and a half hours including coach time and was threatened and was spoken to rudely we found it defently was worth going the blanket trip

I booked up a last minute trip to this hotel and seeing as it was so cheap, I wasn't expecting anything special. For a quick and much needed break in the sun, this hotel is perfect. We booked a self-catering studio which, as we had expected, was very basic. Our room was cleaned on the first day and when we had a problem with oven, a member of the maintenance staff was there to deal with it immediately. A cork screw was delivered to our room within minutes from our request down at reception. We loved the fact that the hotel was impersonal, we didn't go to meet anyone and we didn't want any intrusions. Our balcony looked out onto the pool and felt very private considering it was facing all the other rooms with balconies. The hotel was reasonably quiet. We didn't book the all inclusive package but sampled one or two excellent restaurants away from the main resort. There is a large supermarket not far from the top of the steps that are in front of the hotel selling local wine, fresh fruit and veg and Spanish meat and fish. There are also one or two real Spanish coffee bars selling tapas etc up on the hill. If all you want is to get away for the sun and a restful time, and , like us, you don't have lots of money, then I would highly recommend this hotel. If you are expecting more from the hotel , then you should probably think about spending a couple of hundred pound more on your trip.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room that faces the garden

Booked this as a last min hol - Dont expect anything other than cheap and cheerful here! This is a large complex and is probably only realistically a 2 star hotel. In need of some renovations and lacks good quality rooms. Our first room allocated to us was right next door to the restaurant and main traffic of corridors so it was extremely noisy and we were moved to the top floor to a studio room 501,very basic room - no veranda - just a window looking over the pool and bar so again could be noisy at night. Shower was terrible only a trickle and very small. Food average although plenty fruit and veg and chips! Cleaners great as they come in every day with clean towels. Not much to do on this resort and is very hilly when walking out and about. No beach other than a small black sand bay area a short walk away. The natural pool is a must though. Using goggles you can see plenty of tropical fish. I suffered a bad tummy bug whilst there as did quite a few people, nothing to do with the water or food but apparently there is a bad bug goes around the resort every year. The reps are trying to get the hotel to introduce alcohol hand cleaning jel units all over the hotel to combat this.
