“Fantastic Resort. Easily Recommended. We Loved it. So Will You :-)”
I would firstly like to say, that before we visited Holiday Village Tenerife, we also read these TripAdvisor reviews, and it did not make for good reading.
Having just returned from 10 nights at this village, I will advise you to IGNORE the negative reviews. We did not experience ANY of the nonsense written about this village. If you believed some of the negative reviews on here, you would think you were going to Beirut for a fortnight, when the reality is so far from the reviews. This is a quality, hard working, friendly resort.
The village is extremely well run, and the staff work tirelessly to ensure everything is clean, maintained and that visitors are happy.
We did have a few niggles, but you will always have a few niggles when you go on holiday. No resort in the world is perfect, BUT if you focus on negatives (like people on TripAdvisor do), then you are doing yourself a serious injustice - honestly, the negatives are NOT true.
Anybody could make a resort sound 'bad' if they wanted to pick up on every single, silly issue they were unhappy with, and if you spend your life in that mindset, then I don't envy you, as it seems the reviews on here, the negative ones do exactly that. Quite sad really.
This IS a great resort, and I would thoroughly recommend it to anybody, even my family.
One of the first things you will notice is how very friendly all the staff are, and they actually bend over backwards to help you with anything you need. They are always cleaning, and replenishing your mini bar, and seem to spend all their time making sure everything is spot on. How they clean every single room every day, is quite amazing. New towels and sheets every day, and mini bar stocked everyday. Impressive. Always smiling and saying hello. It is humbling to see to be honest - and very different to what you usually experience in the UK. I don't have a derogatory word to say about them.
The food was excellent, with fantastic choices. Always warm, and definitely enough choice for everyone there. In the dining rooms everyone was polite, not really any queues to speak of, and no pushing, or 'scarcity' because there is simply LOTS of food, and it just keeps on coming. The restaurant staff are very welcoming, and have smiles on their faces, and will cater to your needs. No complaints on the food at all.
Before we went, I read reviews about cold food, undercooked food, people picking up food, putting it back, and people walking about with bottles of wine like it was 'currency', etc. etc. All of this is 100% rubbish, not true, and not only does this type of review do an injustice to the resort, it also reflects badly on TripAdvisor, who allow such unsavoury people to vent their unfounded views.
Drinks? The draught lager I would say is Amstel, and weaker than the lager they serve at the bar, which is San Miguel, and stronger (5.4%). No problems, and my wife enjoyed the cocktails. Drinks are also provided all day long at the pool bar, which also has a great atmosphere. Even on the 'loud pool' I would say it is not loud at all, just some music playing at reasonable volumes (good music actually, usually chilled R&B type of music mixed with some Spanish music). In fact, we walked to the quiet pool quite a few times to reach the snack bar, and the atmosphere there was too quiet for us, no music, no noise, nothing. If that is your thing, then you have that option, too.
Evening entertainment has two options. The First Choice team, or the Spanish team. We personally preferred the Spanish entertainment, which was in the main building, more comfortable, and it was interesting to see how the Spanish operate with the children, keeping them entertained, and then the shows. We enjoyed it. We found the First Choice section of entertainment a little bit too much like, well cheesy (sorry First Choice), but good for the kids, which is important. My children are a little older, so we preferred the Spanish side, which was in the main building, and more relaxed, and uniformed.
One tip I would give, is to visit the 'wall' everyday where all the activities are laid out, and read the SPANISH wall too, because they offer a wide variety of mainly free activities, which is easy to miss, and this will also add to your holiday, for the children, when keeping them occupied.
Sunbeds? This is always a fascinating subject, and it is true that they get taken usually by 8:30. In fact, we seen some real sad-sacks leaving towels on sunbeds at 12:30 at night, sneaking about in the dark like thieves. Really sad how some humans behave, that you just have to laugh. That is human nature for you I suppose. They probably push in queues when in Macdonald's, too. You know the type, but they are definitely in a minority here.
Yes, you do have to get up at about 7am to get good beds, BUT do you know what? this sets you up for the day. The fact is, this is your holiday, it has cost you a lot of money, so make sure you get the most out of it, and get your towels down. Then you have a base for the rest of the day to enjoy, sleep, relax, and enjoy with your family. We would get up at 7am, put our towels down (take it in turns with your partner), then go back to bed for 2 hours, then down for breakfast, then enjoy our day.
What were our niggles? Do you know what, I am not even going to mention them, because they are non-entities in comparison to the overall holiday. I won't lower myself to the depths that others may do. From what I have read on TripAdvsor about this village before we went, some people are extremely anal in their views on life, holidays, opinions, or just about anything really; and those are also the type of people I would never listen to anyway in everyday life - and rightly so. They don't really matter, and neither do their views in the grand scheme of things. Just go and enjoy YOUR holiday.
Overall? This resort is definitely, and easily recommended, and PLEASE, take the negative reviews with a LARGE pinch of salt, they are mainly nonsense.
You will enjoy it here, I would put money on it, that when you get back home, you will wonder if the people who left the negative reviews actually went to the same holiday village as you did. Some people just seem to have too much time on their hands, and are negative in their heads to begin with.
I would definitely return to this hotel, and in hindsight, we wish we had booked for longer than the 10 days. 14 nights would have been perfect - and usually the same price.
You will enjoy this holiday village - guaranteed. We loved it :-)
M block was good for views, and location in the resort.
