“Convenient and functional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

Stayed here for 4 nights while diving on Tioman. It's the furthest hotel from the pier in Tekek (about 15 minutes walk), but right next door to Tioman Diving Centre. Room (203) was painted a garish green but was clean and comfortable enough. A/C worked fine, wifi worked in the room, bathroom was clean and the hot shower worked fine. The in-room safety deposit box didn't work. They replaced it for me and the replacement didn't work either. I couldn't be bothered to report it a second time. Reception staff were helpful and spoke enough English. The dining room was only open for lunch and dinner and the food and staff were OK.

For 2013 they don't have their own transport but can arrange a taxi to/from the pier if required. A taxi to the pier cost me MYR 5. The room was MYR 120 per night which seemed to be the going rate for an A/C room. They had fan rooms (cold water shower) for MYR 50 per night.

Room Tip: Rooms closest to reception have reasonable wifi. Staff told me it didn't work well well in the d...

the resort was ok, nothing too good or too bad to shout about. I was there for a diving trip with colleagues, and stayed in the 2-single bed long house (chalet), room 101. the room was of decent size with basic amenities. towels provided n changed daily. there were both fan n aircond in the room. ensuite
bathroom was clean.. had
an accident on the first day. one of the wooden flooring in front of the room was damaged and there was a hole at the corner of the verandah, that caused large bruise on my calf when I stepped into the hole.. the location was good, near the jetty n tioman airport. attached to a dive centre, the tioman reef divers, cool people!! the breakfast spread was only bread n fried noodle, so don't expect a lot of variety. after all, it's not a luxury 5* hotel.. for the price and for diving, this place is ok..

Room, we had the best view which facing the beach. Room is clean air-cond is provided but not very cold and too bad they dun even provide fan so call the best room we had. And most of the plug not function and we got to figure out all the plug in the room.

Unpleasant staff from the cafe. We was enjoying beer with friends at the open space facing the beach and Warn by a very unpleasant staff from the hotel restaurant to ask us clean up the space. Feeling like living in a military camp!

Dun even seen a single beach chair provided by the hotel for sun bath for such a nice spot.

Breakfast Is sucks!

This resort was recommended by my friend whom is a diver, we went here for our holiday, all 5 guys. FYI, Tioman island is a duty-free island where you can buy cheap alcohol & cigarettes however the chocolates are not so cheap, i guess its not worth to buy. the sign "duty-free" just acts as gimmick. btw, imported beers & liquor are cheap! e.g Hoegaarden(small bottle) RM6 only!

Babura resort is near to berjaya resort(tekek) you can actually walk from the jetty, but can also take their shuttle van service. Once there check in was smooth as we have booked all our accomodation through AKIMI from the diving centre there (TIOMAN REEF DIVERS)

This place is full most of the weekends so better book early!

Best part about the resort is the DIVING CENTRE, they are very friendly. Run by Reeno & Akimi. the beach was good, you can actually snorkel right from beach. Although the reef there arent so good, but for beginners its a training spot. They can arrange you diving lesson & courses.

The Rooms: we took long house with air cond, it was very basic, small but good enough. The toilet was very clean, at RM88/night thr's nothing much we can expect here. but i like the verandah of the long house, there was table & chairs to chill outside.

The Service: again ,in a very cheap accommodation service is not important, we just need a bed to sleep, and thats all...very average service.

The Restaurant: In the resort there is a seaview restaurant called "Tsingtao". A Chinese restaurant which serve very very BAD food. Accommodation here comes with FREE breakfast but guess what? the restaurant serves lousiest & most horrible breakfast! There will be bread, butter & kaya. + fried rice/mee/kuey teow which taste horrible! The owner is also very rude & not attentive or helpful. I would recommend you to go out for breakfast,(near jetty)

*This place are more to Divers spot, if you are thinking about leisure & party you should stay at SALANG it is much happening over thr.

Overall the hotel was good. We was satisfied which is worth the money paid. If you are going for DIVING, Then call the diving centre, she can book you hotel stay & diving.

This was a great place to stay. Our units (302 and 303) were right on the beach and we swam and snorkeled there every day. The staff was extra friendly. Anna, in the front office, was very fluent in English and helped a lot. This a not fancy, but was pleasant and like a secret, hidden get-away. I shouldn't even be telling you about it.

Room Tip: It's worth the little bit extra to stay in the units facing the beach. It felt like our own priv...

For 88RM, you basically get a bed, private bathroom, towels, and air con. It's essentially a step up from a hostel. There's free wifi, but the signal is so weak in our room, we had to step outside to keep a signal. One frustrating thing about the room was that sand managed to get itself everywhere. Would've been nice to have some way of rinsing our feet before entering the room. Also, there is no safe, so don't bring any valuables you don't need, though I suspect crime is virtually non-existent in and around Tioman.

Breakfast is extremely simple. Your two options are white toast or noodles. Butter and kaya for the toast. Coffee and tea. But for such a low rate, who cares? You're probably here to partake in the excellent diving, and Babura's location can't be beat. It's a 10 minute walk from the airport, on the beach, and near a couple of dive centers.

The restaurant was ok, but food prices seemed higher than other places nearby. I'd recommend the Cabana, a 3 minute walk along the beach, for better food, drinks, and atmosphere. The staff was not terribly inviting, but that was probably due to a language barrier more than anything else.

If price is your primary concern, Babura is a good option. But if you want a little more comfort, pony up a little more cash and stay at a nicer inn.

I visited tioman for leisure diving once a year. Normally I stay at Berjaya Tioman but it was full house during my visit so I decided to stay a night and also my diving at babura hotel.

The room was very basic, budget and simple. Kindly do not compare with berjaya as is totally a different expectation. Both myself and wife can adapt 2 different extream of environment where we stay at babura for a night (budget) then moving to berjaya the following night with different standard.

I would say babura a better accomodation if you are looking for budget and backpacking. It is also near the tekek village for convenience for drinks and foods.
