Checked in at 3 a.m., since that is when my flight arrived. At check in counter I had to wake up the front desk kid, who was asleep in the corner. Got to my room, exhausted, and when I went to brush my teeth the water from the sink was brown. (Two colleagues also had same issue in their rooms). The TV didn't work. The room smelled like mold. The plastic toilet seat had some weird black mold-looking thing growing on it. And at 9 am the next morning, they decided to do work on the room the next door so I had constant pounding on the wall. I could not sleep, but could not call the front desk about it because the phone didn't work either. I missed breakfast, but my Brazilian colleague had it. When I asked how it was, her answer: "Terrible." Fortunately, this was only one night stay for me. At check out, I was pissed off - from lack of sleep. I was just waiting for the check out girl to ask me how my stay was so I could unload on her. But she never asked. Her only question to me was if I consumed anything from the mini bar.
I paid about R$170/night for this room. Which I considered to be about R$150 overpriced.
I imagine this hotel was a real gem, back in the 1950's.
