“A MUST for a Namibia visitor - amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

This lodge offers a brilliant and spectacular impression of Namibia and is a perfect start point for a trip through the county. The lodge has breathtaking views, an amazing wilderness, excellent service and accommodation offering an up close and personal experience with the beautiful surroundings. Nature pure in front of the door. A MUST for a Namibia visitor.

Even though the title of my review is as above, I'd like to point out that I was traveling with friends and at the end of the day, this is just my own personal review of the place. The Zebra lodge in my opinion would be a great place for a couple to stay for a honeymoon and it was a shame that I only stayed one night, clearly wishing it could have been longer.

The Zebra lodge is a nice place neatly tucked away in Namibia, with private security and fenced up gates, it is a clear home away from home. Let your hair down and security is not a issue here. The lodge itself is surrounded by trees and animals and the sandy surroundings does let you know you are on holiday. I would recommend that you drive a 4WD or something with a little more power due to the soft sands, you don't want your vehicle to get stuck on the way in the lodge, it's a longggg way...

Being greeted with chilled apple tea was a definite plus in my books. We had traveled long and far to finally arrive here and the guard had called ahead to make sure there were enough glasses for everyone of us. Nice touch.

I visited in the winter so this place was cold, cold, COLD. The nights were especially cold. If you have never felt the warmth of a fire place, this is where you would definitely appreciate it. The staff were fantastic and they got the fire going as soon as night fell. The following morning, during breakfast, they were quick to get the fire going as well. Even with the morning dew, expect temperatures close to zero degrees.

Room wise, it was huge! I felt it was big enough for 4 people to stay in each room, so being roomed with one other person, well you can imagine there is ample space for everything. The showers were some of the biggest I have ever seen while traveling and should you come in the summer, it is possible to do an outdoor shower. That's on my list of to-dos if I ever were to return to Namibia.

Other facilities that this place include would be the renting of ATVs. There would be a guide accompanying you and the ATVs are of good quality, and safety is a priority. It's a good way to get around the lodge unhindered as many of the other tourist would take the safari vehicle. If you're young and adventurous, I'd recommend the ATV without a second thought.

I feel that if you're with your significant other, it would definitely be a good place for you as the rooms are big, the place is safe and there is much to see from the amount of animals present. The staff are also friendly and food is pretty good as well. Staying here for 3 to 4 days would probably do it though, before moving on elsewhere in Namibia. Overall good place, good stay, would recommend.

We (me and my husband and 2 kids(9and 10 years old)) stayed at the lodge for 3 nights in april. It was the last hotel before returning to Belgium but it was an amazing end. The cottage that we had was the very last one so we had an amazing view with lots of animals in front of us. The cottages are very spacious, clean, with a nice patio. The staff is very friendly, always happy, nothing is to much. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner was great. The swimming pool is just a few meters away from a waterhole. SPECTACULAR!!! . We also did the game drive where we saw lots of animals with the sundowner and we did the quad tour, that's amazing, we drove just 5 meters from the family of giraffes.
From the first second you arrive in the lodge you feel at home.
For the kids it was super that the staff spoke South-Afrikaans because we speak Dutch and so they could speak there own language.
Thanks for a perfect 3 nights.
Fam. Gheeraert from Ostend Belgium

Room Tip: I think it was cottage 11 or 12. Super.

they have rooms and cottages (the way to go, will post pics). arrived late (you should try to get there an hour before sunset at least and saw tons of wildlife. on the way to our cottage there was a wilder beast...friendly welcome. It was cold that evening, but if you ask (only we did) they bring you thick blankets which make the open air dinner much more enjoyable (the british 2 x couples obviously thought we look ridiculous and where shivering, forget the looks). 2 choices for dinner, Orzo steak or chicken curry. well we just saw the Orzo grazing in the sunset...Anyway, dinner was good but not great. Ask for vintages not on the menu, they exist!
We had a gin-tonic around the fireplace with fellow-travellers in the open living room and good talks with the locals running the place - very enjoyable.
we loved our cottage (nr. 12 is great - far away) - large room with sitting area and outdoor sitting area as well to watch wildlife. (bring your own wine, no mini bar) but coffee making facility - great at sunrise before heading to the lodge for breakfast which was very good.
keep in mind that you walk through sand from the cottages to open air dining. the drive from the gate is a minimum of 20 min but can be 2 hours if you watch wildlife and there is plenty. Would book there again, pool looked nice but we didn't have time ...

Room Tip: we loved cottage nr. 12 - far away - good for wildlife viewing

Although we usually stay at the Suricate lodge close by, Zebra was actually really quite nice. Rooms big and clean, pool area just fine, food ok, if nothing special, lovely waterhole.

One thing: we booked Suricate with the booking office in Windhoek and where informed only when getting there that the lodge was actually closed and that we had been re-booked to the Zebra. That is not the service I expect for the price this place costs per night and room.

This place is situated amidst Kalahari.Very nice environment. The architecture of the lodge is also very attractive.Rooms are large, bathrooms are also very spacious. But the rooms could be improvised. And From room to the dining area, a path of bricks could be laid.As it is not fun always to walk on sands.
Friendly staff, good food.
The evening safari drive with sun down in dunes was awesome. An evening to remember, really!!
But overall, the lodge could be and should be a little more improved. It looks somehow a little neglected !!
Quad biking was great.

After reading the previous “blogs” I am schocked! We had such a wonderful time at Intu Afrika. The service was perfect, the activities (especially the quadbikes) were great fun, the spa (although not a large selection of massages) was extremely relaxing and the food was divine!!! Marelize and Volca, you are doing a great job! We loved your lodge!
