“A TYPICAL GREAT FRENCH EXPERIENCE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We have been staying in Chateau de Fleurville, located next to Macon, on our way to the north Burgundy.
This is an old castle from 17 th century, full of charm.
There are only 15 rooms, making the place very cosy although with all facilities including a pool and a tennis ground.
On top, the food ( and the wine) are outstanding, at an excellent quality to cost ratio.
Finally, the owner of the place is a very nice and warm person always eager to give you the right idea for touring around the hotel !

Room Tip: ask for a room in the main building being the castle itself.

A lovely chateau & grounds - inviting outdoor pool & sun loungers - tennis court - easy secure parking - outdoor terrace. The owner himself looks after you - waitering, serving drinks, manning the reception.........the only other visible staff was the chef who produced a stunning evening meal of the highest quality at a fair price. Peaceful terrace to have a glass of wine served with wonderful canapes. Breakfast was not so interesting apart from the coffee machine which produced wonderful coffee. The room in a wing of the chateau was not so great - very small - as was the en-suite bathroom. I wouldn't have wanted to stay there more than 1 night & would probably opt for a room in the chateau itself next time - but it did give easy access to the pool area. Drinks quite expensive. Surrounding village not the most picturesque but easy access from motorway.

We thought it to be one of the most beautiful hotels we visited in Burgundy. The rooms were less astonishing than the outside and the gardens, but still very comfortable. The food and service was amazing. I would caution any visitors with families that it is not ideal for small children as we felt that the owner would like to create a more mature and romantic atmosphere and that we were walking on eggshells trying to keep our children quiet and well behaved. Also the dinner is delicious and very well presented, but takes a very long time and again it is more difficult with younger children that need to go to bed.The owner Pasquale did go the extra mile in providing us with a very early breakfast on check-out.

This is a perfect getaway or stopover in the Bourgogne/Burgundy region. We were delighted with our experience from the moment we entered the charming park landscaped with roses and lavender. The owners are charming and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and other staff were equally friendly. There is a large pool and jacuzzi, plus tennis courts and a sauna.

The highlight, however, was the gourmet restaurant. The food was creative and delicious. From a tempting assortment of amuse bouches, through excellent main dishes to mouth watering desserts, everything was perfect. The white chocolate mousse that was part of a chocolate dessert selection was one of the best I have ever had. The wine list is also excellent. We were fortunate to have good weather and were able to dine on the terrasse with the illuminated chateau as a backdrop. It made for a magical evening that we will remember for a long time to come.

While families are welcome, it is perfect for couples. It is a short distance from the A6 motorway and gives easy access to winetasting and interesting cultural visits such as Cluny. Dijon is another day trip possibility.

This address is definitely a keeper, one we hope to visit again soon.

Room Tip: The standard rooms on the outside gallery are smaller than those in the main chateau, but still a go...

We stayed one night in the Château de Fleurville and had a lovely time. The room was nicely decorated in "château style", with a very comfortable bed. Dinner was a great surprise as it turned out to be a true gourmet meal. The dining room deserves a special mention as it gave a true château atmosphere. The wine list offers a good choice of local wines. Breakfast was excellent. The only negative thing I can possibly think of is that the champagne we had as apéritif was somewhat pricey. The owner himself takes care of the guests, including pleasant small talk, and makes sure everything is to full satisfaction.

We will definitely go back.

A picturesque 16th century chateau set in well-kept grounds with a tennis court and outdoor pool. The rooms were comfortable enough and reasonably sized, though not luxurious. The staff and proprietor were friendly and very helpful. The restaurant is excellent, serving up to date interpretations of classic, rich Burgundian food, plus a great wine list. Very good breakfast options too. No wifi access at time of writing, though I believe this is planned. Easy to find as it is a few hundred yards from the main road to Macon and a superb location for cycling around the region.

From the moment you drive through the gates onto the property, you can't help but be impressed by the beauty of the chateau and its grounds. It is well equipped with tennis courts and lovely pool tucked into the well manicured landscape. The entrance to the chateau itself is lovely and has the feeling of a small castle inside! Winding stairs go down to a reception area and dining. The stairs lead up to the larger rooms in the main building. We stayed in a lovely wing with rooms accessed from the outside off a covered porch. While these rooms are very small, they are well appointed and equipped with cable TV, and a lovely, tiled bath with tub/shower combination/ robes and slippers.

The dining room is a great atmosphere for the continental breakfast and perfect for dinner which was priced at a base price of about 59 Euros each, not including drinks. We elected to eat in the local villages, but the registration staff was not willing to share any names of local restaurants from which we could choose.....We had to find them ourselves. That made a very bad impression on us on arrival, and seemed out of character for such a high quality establishment. We are certain that the food at the hotel would have been excellent.

Room Tip: If you want a large room, stay in the main house.
