“A wonderful base from which to explore Burgundy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We had two nights and two dinners in the super hotel. The 'Other Half' had stayed here many years ago and was delighted by how it had changed and improved, even though back then it was great. The small square which the hotel adjoins has been remodeled and pedestrianised so the hotel is wonderfully quiet.

We were in the annex, a very short walk across the square. Our room was on the top floor (second, no lift but the stairs are easy), it was spacious and bright with a good bathroom, the vaulted ceiling was particularly attractive. If you want to try and pick a room there is a very nice one on the first floor with a balcony.

Both the dinners we ate were excellent and everything I would expect from a 1 star restaurant. The were two set menus, both good value and the usual carte. The wine list is lengthy and naturally dominated by local wines, I do not know Burgundy well and received excellent advice from the sommelier and simply to a much more expensive wine. It is worth noting that if you fancy 'an extra glass' they have some very good ones by the glass as a sensible price.

The breakfast is good value and the usual buffet affair but very enjoyable.

In all a wholeheartedly recommend visiting this superb hotel.

Our family of 4 adults enjoyed the charm and hospitality of Le Montrachet. The staff are friendly and sincere. Food service is excellent although being able to get a snack from the bar especially between 2 pm and 7 pm would be helpful and desirable. The wine selection by the glass at the bar is very good.
Bedrooms are comfortable although some beds are still a bit hard. Double pillows are nice (use the extras in the closet).
The restaurant is very good value and the breakfast hours and quality offered is excellent.
Our Internet connections were always reliable and strong. An excellent and appreciated service.
This was our second stay. The first was 4 years ago and we noticed an improvement in attention to quality of experience for guests this year. Well done Le Montrachet!

since my last visit the chef has changed and the head chef now was previously the sous chef. He is brilliant with an amazing meal to eat. do not miss the piece de resistance snails infused with wine in the shell on a crouton base and the shell on a small bed of mashed potato. room was very comfortable. great bathroom and beds, secure parking. tip at dinner rather than choose a bottle of excellent Puligny Montrachet order by the glass from the bar list which has all the great Puligny Montrachet wines there. The Maitre d' will sort out the order of drinking in terms of strength, great hotel if passing through or if exploring the region and its vineyards . wonderful base .

Room Tip: room 24 is wonderful

This small hotel in the quiet village of Puligny-Montrachet is one of the best options outside Beaune. we did not try their restaurant, but the breakfast was one of the better ones.
Internet conection is still a problem in many hotels, also in this one. If this had worked better it would be really excellent.

The necessary detour for us to once again stay at this great hotel was really worthwhile. The refurbishment of the public areas and the restaurant blend in well with ambiance of the hotel and its delightful surroundings. Hopefully there are plans for a comparable upgrade of the bedroom areas to match the recent developments The tranquility of the village and surrounding countryside is matched by a calm and efficiently run hotel.

This was our fourth visit to Le Montrachet, the last visit was five years ago. Le Montrachet has changed a lot as it has been extended but it is still a special place. The restaurant is wonderful, very attractive and the attention to detail is amazing. The service from the staff is very friendly and impeccable. The food was wonderful. The breakfast is very good and has changed for the better from five years ago. I think that the room price is expensive as it is fairly ordinary but it is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Montrachet village has also had improvements so that the outlook from Le Montrachet is very attractive.

We had a very enjoyable four days in Le Montrachet and hope to return in the future

Only able to stay one night wish it had been longer. We booked at the last minute and got a small bargain room under the eaves . It was attractively furnished with a comfortable bed, a lovely bathroom with nice" goodies", no coffee maker, , good connection to free Wifi. The restaurant is one star Michelin and deserves it. Service was impeccable and friendly.I am not a huge fan of Escargots but since they were recommended I gave them a try and they were as good as snails get! Overall excellent dinner a little on the salty side but this true of many French restaurants. Low salt diet and France just don't mix. The hotel is situated on the attractive square of the village of Montrachet. If you are on a cycling trip from Beaune this would be the place to have lunch on the terrace. Across the square is a le Caveau wine bar and tasting room well worth a visit. The young man who owns it was born in Montrachet. He was helpful and spoke excellent English. He had a good selection of local vintners an sampled a good variety.
