“Superb location, excellent food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2010

Discovered the Manoir by chance on the way to the loire. The room was very comfortable with views over the garden. We had a superb meal and a very peaceful nights sleep. We would definately stay if passing this way again and would happily recomend.

We stayed at the Manoir on our route west to Bretagne and will definitely visit again. Only next time not just for one night! The food is fantastic and service charming. We visited in March and were welcomed by a wood fire burning in the cheminee. Will definitely have to visit again when the garden is in flower and have dinner on the terrasse! Oh, forgot to add - super comfortable beds.

The Manoir is an elegant building very nicely set in a large garden surrounded by woods. I had one of the slightly more expensive rooms with a view over the park: very nice on a corner of the building. The lack of a shower curtain is however a bit messy. The public areas are richly decorated and comfortable.
The food is quite good, althrough about a third of the menu and a la carte items were unavailable. True there were only five diners that mid-week evening, so maybe they give precedence to freshness over choice?
Unfortunately the owner who runs the front-desk and serves in the restaurant is a big drawback. Her welcome is decidedly cool and inhospitable. She stays sat on her stool while checking you in and does not show you to your room. Upon inquiring about dinner, she pointedly replied it is from 19:15 to 19:30. However when going down at 19:20 there nobody at all to serve. Finally after a quarter of an hour she appears and unpleasantly informs that you are too early. When checking out, she made two mistakes in the rather simple one night bill: a higher room-rate than reserved, and charging two breakfasts instead of the single one taken.
So I give a negative recommendation to the hotel because she spoils the hotel's otherwise fine features.

Three nights, 1 dinner and 1 breakfast, felt unwelcome, given keys and told first floor. Room ‘shabby chic’! Other hotels complementary drink on arrival, 4x25cl beers offered cost 20 Euros!! Evening meal changing choice; breakfast 11.50 E each appalling. Cleaner left door unlocked all day, towels not changed.

It's wonderfully situated in the countryside and the chateau itself is very charming, including the garden. However the welcome was rather 'cool' by a lady who later turned out to be the proprietresse. We did not feel very welcome. Service was not very good, although her husband seemed more adept at dealing with guests.
Our room looked nice, somewhat like a dollhouse, a collection on antiques and kitsch. However it smelled stale, despite the room being aired. Beds were clean. The whole chateau interior desperately needed a complete makeover.
Dinner was not very good and took very long. Slept very well in the quiet environment. Breakfast was typical french (no cheese or meats, only sweets) but what was very a-typical: the baguette was from yesterday and toasted.
Our advice: stay away from the food and enjoy the surroundings.
