Hotels in Mardin are expensive and the only reason we stayed at Basak was because it was the only one we could afford. We stayed two nights in October and would have left except we really loved the town and had no other option for a room. The major problem is that even though it's the 'cheap' hotel, it isn't cheap at all. It's actually quite pricey. The rooms are small and dusty with paint peeling off the walls and the bathrooms are so disgusting you have to hold your breath to go in. If it had been 15 lira a night we would have put up with it, but not for 45 lira (over 20 euro). Laundry service is also crazily expensive. If you can afford to, stay elsewhere.
