“Restaurant gone downhill”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

This used to be one of our favourite restaurants in the area and were looking forward to a celebratory dinner. Sadly we were hugely disappointed. Service off-hand and poor and the food bland. Also had to wait for over and hour and a half for the first course. The staff have changed so not convinced this is a one-off

Stayed here as part of big birthday celebrations. Outstanding views, but this was not matched by outstanding service. We were very disappointed with our stay at the La Bastide and at the service we received. We gave direct feedabck to the hotel verbally at the end of our stay and was dissapointed with the response. (Never paid so much for a cold breakfast anywhere in the world!) Staff do not appear to be focused on the quality of the customer experience, more about taking payment etc. We also by gave feedback to management via email , but received no response. However good the location is, we will not be returning and would most definitely NOT recommend this hotel to fellow travellers, We have stayed in top class hotels all over the world and feel that La Bastide is well over rated. We have received far better service from less rated hotels. I will remember my birthday celebrations , but sadly for the wrong reasons due to the poor service and attitude of staff at La Bastide.

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a wondefully, authentic French experience. The hotel building itself is magnificent and its location is fantastic, high on the hill top, with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The rooms we had were very spacious with a fantastic balcony and they were certainly worth paying the extra for. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. Dinner was a gastronomic affair on their beautiful outdoor terrace. Be warned if you are travelling with children, there is not kids menu and definitely no chips! However the town of Tourtour is just a five minute walk away with several very good cafre/bistros which do everything from pizzas to chips. In fact I would highly recommend a visit as the town is very picturesque.

We were staying at another local hotel without a restaurant and were recommended this hotel for dinner. We did not enjoy it at all. The food was very specialised and I have no doubt suited some, but for us it was far too rich and much too expensive for what we had. The service was also far too persistent. We like to be served and then left alone. We are quite capable of filling up our own glasses! The worse thing was that all evening we were pestered by flies who sat on the table and would have sat in our food if we had not kept flicking them away. We complained and were told that some tables had lavender on them to keep the flies away, but ours was not one of them. To their credit, they did realise that we really did not like the second course and they deducted an amount from the bill, but it did not take away from the memory of this the first night of our holiday.

Location, location, location...a perfect one for tourtouring (excuse the pun) Provence in every direction. Between 30-50 minutes and all special interests you may have can be reached. The Bastide is very impressive and the room we stayed was very clean and accomodating. The staff, special mention of Catherine and Karin, were very friendly and helpful for info and suggestions. It was so nice that we planned 4 nights and ended up staying 5. The pool was also a great cool down at the end of the travelling day. Highly recommended for those interested in an un-assuming hotel yet high quality lodging.

Ten of us stayed for an extended weekend and were looked after magnificently by friendly staff. There is no hotel in France with a better position and with refurbished rooms and high quality food in a welcoming ambience,it is hard to find a better place for a family occasion.

The view was beautiful but the room right over the terrasse where breakfast/lunch/dinner is served, noise was disturbing.
THe jacuzzi was not in working order and the pool floating with pine tree needles.
The breakfast overpriced.
