“A hidden gem in Cambremer, Pay d'Auge, Normandy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2010

This small-but-neat restaurant run by Sabrina and her mother, Huguette, the chef. Its Norman salad and meat terrine with bread as starters surpassed our expectation from this small town of Cambremer on the Cider Route. Tripe and steak with camembert sauce were excellant, and so was the duck with pommeau. We were too full to try the flaming dessert omelet but the next table ordered it managed to catch everyone's attention when it was being served - looked yummy!

“We stumbled on this small restaurant near...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2010 via mobile

We stumbled on this small restaurant near the church in Cambremer. What a find! Lots of delicious choices and many made according to recipes of "maman". The omlette was like a soufflé only better. And the cider sauce for the ham was perfect. If you like pain d'epice (ginger bread) don't miss this rendition for desert. The friendly service is the brownie point for our pleasant supper at Au P'tit Normand!

“A little gem in Normandy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2010

Located less than 30 minutes from Caen, this small restaurant located by the church is everything one would expect from a French country restaurant. Warm welcome, a simple but mouth watering selection of local dishes and good wines at a fair price. The owner will point for you her mother's (the cook) special dishes, all based on local resources: cream, cheese and Calvados or cider. Try the soft boiled eggs in camember sauce or the most excellent terrine; follow with duck or steak or, for the adventurous, the really good 'andouillette'. Do not hesitate to follow up with a fresh local cheese plate (Camember, Pont-l'Eveque, Neufchatel and Livarot). If you still have space have 'la Tarte aux pommes de Maman'. Superb wine selection at reasonable prices will let you feel happy or even better bring you back the next day.

“A local favorite, judging by how full it was, home cooking at it's best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2009

We were looking for place to eat near our hotel, the Chateua de Bruyeres,( also wonderful food,) and asked a person in Cambremer where they would recommend we eat dinner.. They pointed to Au P'tit Normandie. It didn't open until 7:00, so we initially thought it was closed! We did stop in and asked to be put on the list for reservations. Good thing we did! We showed up a bit after 7:00 and by 7:30, the 30 dining spots were almost full. The owner runs the show, her mother cooks the food, many being family recipes. It was just a perfect, a warm cozy atmosphere, heart warming food, too many delicious choices.
