I booked the El Pinar through British Airways about three months ago. We didn't get off to a good start, as when we arrived at midnight, exhausted from our journey, we were given a note typed in English by the night porter (who didn't speak English) saying that they were overbooked and that we had to get back in a cab and go to San Antonio (30 minutes drive) to stay in a room at their partner hotel. Although the room there was lovely and we were given access to the buffet breakfast, we had to check-out by midday and get back in a cab to travel back to Cala Llonga to the El Pinar. When we arrived (12:30) we were told the room hadn't been cleaned yet so had to wait.
Our room was in the newer block, which is set back slightly from the bay and the pool but the view was stunning. We had a very small balcony, so small in fact that there was no room for chairs or a table which I wasn't expecting. The room was basic but fairly clean and the maids came everyday.
The staff were a bit of a mixed bag, but in the main, they were pleasant enough. We ate only snack type lunches at the El Pinar and that was fine, didn't eat dinner here though so can't comment on that.
The resort itself is very quiet indeed which was perfect for us but we did take a cab (15 euros) into Ibiza town which is definitely worth doing.
So overall, we had a very enjoyable holiday and I would recommend the El Pinar to families / couples / people looking for a quiet break with a fantastic beach - the beach was actually so great that we never went to the pool therefore I can't comment on that!
Request a room with a sea view in the newer block!

We regret that you have overbooking the first day, we try to avoid it but when some guest have to suffer it, we allocated the guests in our hotel Blau Parc (4 stars, in San Antonio) or, if we find availabity in another hotel or apartments in Cala Llonga,
You are rigth, the studios in top block have smalls balconies.Really, this block is the oldest but it was renovated completely in 1995, the studios were refurnished on 2004 and from 2010 these studios have air-conditioning and TV. Now we are trying to get the permits for increasing the balconies, but these permits take time and we do know when we get them, even if we get them.
