“A lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

We stayed for 2 weeks on a half board basis end jul/aug 2013 and had a lovely holiday here. The food was plentiful and always something to choose from. All the reception staff were all extremely helpful with excellent English and all very knowledgable regarding the local area, trips, buses etc. The entertainer Michael was brilliant with both kids and adults alike and totally made the holiday. The air conditioning, room size/cleanliness and balcony was the best we have ever had and we are already looking to book for next year.

Room Tip: I emailed the hotel and asked for a balcony that was sunny in the afternoon/evening with a pool or s...

there are a number of things that I can say, the hotel is good. rooms good,air con good,food good, staff serving you good, but the dreaded cats are awful. they are in the pools, doing there business around the place, we had a ground floor room and they were always in the patio. they were fighting with each other. they are horrid and letting a good establishment down. wake up mangers and do something you will be loosing business because of these pest.
travelled with children and parents

Room Tip: avoid ground floor because of pesty cats

Family of four self catering 7th Aug for 1 week 1 bed apartment

Airport transfer - Not worth it get a taxi at 15 e each way, no messing. We saw a coach picking up people and as last pick it was up packed. From our operators coach would have been £39!

Hotel - Really clean, room cleaned every other day. Asked for 4 more pillows and no problem. Spacious. Air con OK not super strength but after a while got there. The famous Michael not there this week so cannot comment but had pool and table tennis for kids and also water polo most days. Basically all British hotel.
We usually take washing up liquid but provided in kitchen with sponges. Kitchen utensils all you need. There is a coffee machine if you wanted to take the coffee and filters etc. Oven and Grill and toaster.
Ice cube trays provided (we take our own as some places not provided)
TV - only BBC world news, gets a bit boring after a while, (I know you don't go on holiday for telly but early morning , evening or if you want a break from the heat) could take a Portable DVD as TV's have scart sockets.

Staff - very helpful, polite.

Pool - slightly smaller than we thought but still enough space, clean.

Loungers - other reviews have said some free at any time of day but not the case. We had to reserve loungers before 8.00(for good location) or otherwise 9.00. Comfy though nice padding.

Eating out - As self catering we tried the pool bar once on arrival, OK but not again. For brunch mainly went to Irish Bar 70 m up the road. Sausage, bacon, beans, mushrooms, toast, tomatoes, egg for 3.50 e well cooked set us up until the evening.
Evening meals, would recommend Aberdeen Steak House (7 minute walk down the road) good value (mixed grill 5.50) or I would recommend the BBQ Ribs (11.50) superb!
Also the Irish bar food is good value, meals for 6.0 e, they also show the footy on numerous screens.
Take a walk down the road and when you get to the Winter Gardens go through this complex and you will get to the Harbour area,( also an ATM for any extra cash needed) nice setting and choice of steak house and other restaurants, souvenir shops. We found this late on and were disappointed we had not discovered it earlier.
If you want more fishy food then a taxi to Los Abrigos(8.0 e), a so called Marina with dinghy's in it!Taxi to Los Christianos 20 e for more choice.

Entertainment - Went down to piano bar 4 nights, the only one we stayed for was the Parrots on bikes, counting etc - would not rely on Hotel entertainment but you can have fun with a pack of cards and a beer on the balcony.

Alcohol - 2 supermarkets, one next door the other up by the Irish bar, both good value. Can of Strongbow 1.90e, half bottle whisky 5.90 e, 1 litre carton of white wine 1.20!

Tobacco - best place is in San Blas(taxi 5 e) 10*50g Cutters Choice 44 e (here that would cost £150!!) Officially only allowed 5 packs to bring back but 10 in each suitcase should be OK.

Wi Fi - Hotel charges 1 e for 30 mins, don't bother , buy a drink in the bar adjoining and they set you up with the code which you can use all week as long as you are fairly close. Also the Irish Bar has it, they give you the code and again all week access.

Planes - it is in flight path to airport so planes flying over every 30 mins in the day, but strangely good fun watching them come in - don't let it put you off. Earliest fly past usually at 5.30am, could possibly wake you up if light sleeper otherwise none at night.

Overall, good hotel, clean, relaxing, location close to airport (transfer 10 mins) quiet but still with enough to give you choices to eat. Recommend for families not for you youngsters looking for all night clubs.

Room Tip: Pool View, I found for best results email the hotel direct prior to going

Just returned from 10 nights at the Cordial Golf Plaza. Hotel was spacious and clean / well maintained; apartment was largest I have ever stayed in. On the downside, air conditioning did not work (even though we complained); pool bar menu was poor; entertainment was poor standard; beds were rock hard; and you were charged for things most 4 star hotels would not charge for. Pool area was also poorly supervised and in my view an accident waiting to happen. Overall, having stayed in other 4 star hotels (including the Cordial Mogan Playa in Gran Canaria) I would say the Cordial Golf Plaza is not worthy of a 4 star rating. Did manage to locate a couple of excellent local restaurants, including the Italian Mama Roma where the food was excellent and the service second to none.

Stayed 22nd July 2013 for 12 nights. (there was 23 of us in 4 2bed apartments) Firstly the accommodation is fantastic, huge rooms massive bedrooms, ensuite to master with full length wall to wall mirrored wardrobes. additional bathroom with shower. cooking facilities (3 different types of glasses) everything u need (except a microwave) massive balcony (all 23 of us could easily fit in one. large pool area with plenty loungers, no matter what time you went down always plenty of beds available. 10 mins in taxi from airport 12-15 euros so don't bother with transfers. Quiet location very safe for families and children. entertainment on a few nights nothing brill but the kids liked it. very cheap to eat out and drink check out Sundowners next door 1 euro a pint 2.5 euros for a massive short and mixer. eating out is a treat lots of good eateries nearby. a fantastic Italian called golf sur pizzeria, looks nothing from outside serves the best Italian food I have ever eaten, run by a lovely old itialian couple, on road to san blas.(shopping and eating area) 15 min stroll or 3.5 euros in a taxi. Aberdeen angus serves a good 3 course menu for 8 euros (including the steak of your choice) bus stop outside hotel into all the local towns for next to nothing 2.5 euros average. your spending money will go far here. 200 cigs for 23 euros. we didn't eat in restaurant so cant comment, but snack bar at pool was fine serving all the usual chips burgers etc. breakfast full English double everything at Aberdeen angus steak house 2.5 euros!! beat that. The whole family had a great time. no good for party goers and young singles, but ideal for families. Siam water park in playa de las Americas is a must visit. fantastic full day out. top tip, go early head straight for the beach area get a bed and that's your base for the day, the wave pool is amazing. would def go back no complaint at all

Room Tip: ask for pool view room, (but do not be disappointed if you don't get direct sun, believe me you...

One of the best hotels ive stayed in, Soft beds, rooms clean (although they never cleaned our balcony) Food was Amazing. But it would of been good if there was more of an option for Breakfast. as it was pretty much the same everyday. Service was Good. Hotel very quiet. lots of wild cats around the hotel too!

Room Tip: Choose a room on the 1st 2nd or 3rd floor. as there is the risk of a break in on the ground floor.

Really loved our stay in this hotel during the summer of 2012.
The only less bright aspects some may criticise:
- airplanes landing on the nearby airport are a bit noisy but there aren't too many and not so noisy;
- the hotel isn't next to the sea and the closest sand beaches are 10 minutes car trip away;
Otherwise: clean, wonderful staff, great food. The kids pool is very useful and the one for the adults just fine.
Renting a car is better even if the bus stop is just in front of the hotel..
