“Lovely apartment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

We stayed for a couple of days and had a very spacious apartment overlooking the sea - with marvellous views. We've stayed here a couple of times before because of it's location close to Palma. Our previous visit we were allocated a room in the block opposite the hotel - which is not so nice as the main building. I think it's pot luck unless you specify a sea view and pay more. We chose this area as it's cheaper than staying in Palma. Illetas is quite a small, quiet place but has a nice beach so it's good to chill out during the day but still be within easy reach of the shops, sights and nightlife of Palma. There is a bus service that stops right outside the hotel and takes you into town for €1.50.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a balcony and sea view - We stayed in room H4 which is in the MImosa block

I stayed at the hotel September 23 for a week with two friends. The goal of the stay was just to lie on the sun resting in a calm and quiet place, have some drinks but not get drunk, have some fun but not crazy hang outs, thats the place for it. The hotel is in a very quiet area, so if you want to go to discos or night clubs, there are non in the area, or may be they were all closed because it was almost the end of the summer season. The rooms were enough size, clean, shiny, but i would say the room was more as at a good 3star hotel, but no complains about it. The air-conditioning worked well. Recommend to take see-view room no mattere how much it costs, thats the idea of the place, to look at the horizon, sun-rise, beautiful clean see. The food was wery good. For breakfast any taste would be pleased. For dinner there was a choice of fish and meat dishes, variety of salads and so on, recommen to have their sangria, which was made differently every evening, but always delicious! People who stayed at the hotel were mostly germans, french, some quiet russian families, mostly people over 50. The only thing that i would have wished to be more exciting is the animation at night. One night a man sang guitar songs from 70es and 80es, another night a man played classical guitar melodies, another night - piano, just two last nights a girls with beautiful voice sang 90es pop songs and last night a man played saxophone and it was fun. May be it was fun for couples over sixty, but for us 30-45 years old it was a bit boring. The hotel has an area with inside swimming-poll, juccuzi, sauna which worked till 8pm, it was nice to rest there, There is also 2 open swimming pools with an area for kids. The staff was very helpful, and multilingual, especially Barbara at reception, thanks a lot to her. We rented a car there (at the hotel) and took a trip around island. To be short, the hotel is spacious, has beautiful views, and many araes where you can rest with your own company without seeing others and not being disturbed and not to bother others. I recommend this hotel for good quality calm stay with family or friends, for romantic stay (but it depends on a couple). Its not an action area, no fun around at all. But there is a bus stop right outside the hotel and busses run every 10 min to Palma, which takes around 20min and 1.5 euros and you can find alll you want there.

We had booked a Gold Advantage Time share at the Club Illetas Playa. We travelled there from Faro, Portugal on Sunday 7th October.

When we got there we were allocated a tiny, shabby, ill equipped room in a semi derelict block across the road from the hotel. The balcony was tiny with 2 bendy plastic chairs. The view from the balcony was of a brick wall. The toilet cistern was cracked, everywhere needed a coat of paint, the bath was chipped, there were 2 small cups and 2 small glasses and very little in the way of cooking utensils.. The place was crawling with cockraoches. All in all it was absolutely disgusting.

We went back to the hotel reception and arrived at the same time as a couple from Scotland who were also complaining. The Spanish girl in reception was arrogant and rude and was screaming at the couple in Spanish. She said it was not her problem it was a woman called Paula who had an office in the old block. We all went over but no sign of Paula, after some time went back and after being screamed at again by the young hysterical receptionist she ascertained that Paula had taken the week off, without telling anybody she was not coming back until the following Monday (15th) and there was nothing she could do. We asked to see the manager and she then reallocated us a room with a partial sea view, she said if we wanted the better accommodation we would have to pay 50 euros a day.

We put up with the new room although it was no better, the fridge was rusting, the cooker should have been condemned and generally the whole place was run down. The beds were like sleeping on a slab of stone.

As we had a car we toured the Island from early morning to late evening, just returning to the room to shower and change.

On the last day there was torrential rain and the rain started flooding through the roof and dripping from the ceiling. The room flooded and a sewage smell was very evident. We told them about it and there was a pleasant receptionist on duty this time, it was obviously a recurring problem as without any argument we were allocated a room in block H which was part of the hotel. This was very different and, although slightly tired and in some need of TLC and had the same hard beds, was very pleasant, it was a shame that this was our last evening.

We spoke to the manager at the beginning of our stay and he was very sympathetic, I do not think! He was very non committal, shrugged his shoulders in the Spanish way and did say 'Yes we do need to remodel the rooms' but walked away.

All in all I wish we had stayed in Portugal, standards are much higher, people are polite and friendly and it is cheaper so we will avpoid Spain in the future.

The Holiday Exchange company were very good, they dealt with our complaints immediately and offered us a full refund.

Room Tip: Go to Portugal!

We stayed at the Roc Illetas for seven nights at the beginning of Oct. The views from our balcony
(room 075) were wonderful, I could sit there all day. I found the room and decor perfectly fine, plenty of space for hanging clothes etc. We were on a half board basis, breakfast was the usual fare, plenty of choice. Dinner also had lots of choice,we could always find something to our taste.
Breakfast on the terace was a great treat, looking over the Bay of Palma with the sun shining, heaven!
Most of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The bus to Palma outside the hotel is fantastic, 1.50euro each way, takes about 30mins. Taxis to other resorts are also quite cheap.
Illetas is not very lively, suited us, but if you were on a B/B option the dining choices are not huge, but the H/B at the hotel is very reasonable.
I would have liked tea or coffee making facilities in the room as i am a very early riser, unusual not to have them in rooms now. Also on check-in we were asked to pay for our entire stay, not a problem, but again unusual.
Yes there are a lot of stairs but once you master the lifts you can avoid them, there was a previous review here with directions, very helpful.
Overall a lovely hotel and great value.

The hotel location was close to the waterfront with the view from our balcony most relaxing. Yet we were right on the bus line that got us to all the tourist activities in Palma. The staff was friendly and helped with our every request. Meals at the restaurant varied daily and had enough variety for anyone's taste. We highly recommend this establishment.

The weather was great, the views from the hotel were stunning and it was a great holiday. The staff were very friendly and all in all worth the money. We knew it wasn't 5* but it was much nicer than I thought it would be when we booked!
There are a lot of stairs so if you have mobility issues this may not be the hotel for you, although there are elevators/lifts. Also, the beds are hard and 2 singles are pushed together to make the doubles, so if you're picky beware. We didn't have a problem with this though.

Room Tip: ask for a seaview!

We arrived at this Hotel on Tuesday 2nd October 2012 approximately 9pm, given the key to our room which we booked "Executive Twin Room with Sea VIew" we opened the door and found we were in a very shabby 2 bedroomed apartment. When I rang reception the man on the desk very casually told me "yeah, your room wont be ready till tomorrow so you will have to stay in the apartment for tonight" we returned to the reception and showed him our booking confirmation and tried to explain to him that this was a mistake. he just shrugged his shoulders and said you will have to sort it out tomorrow.
The room was like a flea pit - it was dirty, tired and very uninviting - needless to say I turned round and left the building and found accommodation (luckily) down the road in a lovely clean and friendly hotel. Make sure you get what you are booking - this is now the 2nd time I have used booking.com and haven't received what I have paid for... we also went to Miami and when we arrived at the hotel they didn't even have a reservation for us although I have the printed confirmation with me!!!
