“Best All Inclusive Package”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

I'm baffled by some of the negative reviews on this site... this hotel complex is amazing! There are three hotels and self-catering apartments. Each hotel has a couple of pools, two or three bars, a buffet restaurant and a snack bar (open 10am until 11pm). All inclusive guests are able to use any of the facilities in any of the hotels.

With snacks available all day, unlimited ice cream, ice lollies, crisps and nuts availabe at each of the bars you really don't have to spend a single penny here. The staff were all friendly, the place was spotlessly clean and the range of food was incredible. Add to that a beach front location and close proximity to the Roman town of Tarragona and you have the perfect holiday!

The local public transport operator Plana have an office just outside the hotel. If you're booking any excursions, it's much easier and cheaper to do it through them rather than the reps.

This is a quiet, peaceful resort so if you're looking for a Spanish clubbing holiday, then head further into Salou, but if you're looking for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings with great food then this is for you.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool get the most sun, but also overlook the evening entertainment so might be...

This is our 2nd time to Estival Park we stayed in Estival 2 which is our preference anyway although we don't have a family this hotel us ideal for those that do as there is plenty going on. Most of the reviews are positive on here and the negative ones I sometimes can't believe we stayed in the same hotel! I would agree the furnishings and decor could do with updating and I'm sure the hotel would like to but in the current climate it may not be practical however it didn't deter from a good holiday. We returned again since it is a great resort to walk around and the beaches are fantastic it is quiet but you only need to hop on a bus and in 15 minutes you are in bustling Salou a mini Benidorm. I am pleased the resort of La Pineda has not been built up anymore it is perfect as it is. The Hotels all inclusive package is excellent the dining room had an amazing choice for even the pickiest of eaters plenty of meat, fish, veg, salads and good vegatarian and children's choices and there is always the snack bar help yourself to burgers, hot dogs, toasties chips and salads. You can pour your own soft drinks and lagers or visit the bar where you can get a (large!) G and T. I cannot fault this hotel we had another excellent holiday.

First time I have written a review:- Estival 1:- On arrival we were allocated room (1271) above the bin area and service road between Estival 1 & 2, we immdeiatly went back down to reception and requested an alternative, the reception staff ELY "No Possible", I asked for the Manager, a second female on reception and got " No Possible", I spoke to the First Choice Rep Nathan, and got you guessed it "Not possible".
You Guessed it:- 03.00am a large diesel wagon with hydraullic arm parked under the window and echanged approx 10 large industrial waste bins, with all the associated noise.
Later that same night 0700am, the hotel staff commenced cleaning the bins, tipping them on the side and power washing the insides, empty vessels make the most noise, loud banging each time a bins was tipped over and the noise of the cleaning process. The changing and cleaning of the bins occurred most nights.
It was not all bad the food was good, the Amination team was just bearable, using customers to entertain other customers rarely produces good results, the hotel is clean and tidy, the drinks OK.
The bar and restaurant staff however are overworked, spening to much time at work and it shows on their faces, NO ONE smiles, maybe its the end of a long season, but was universal across all the staff.
Tourism is a Service Industry: Customers are King, I felt like a pauper, by the end of the week we were "naked", the bed was not comfortable. I had paid the First Choice Travel agent, the hotel was going to get its remittance so didnt see the need to satisfy this customer. Neither will see the colour of my money again. The site is beach front however those with walking difficulties please note there is a considerable walk to the beach.
The attached Aquaslash Park is a very tired site, showing its age.

We stayed at The Estival Park 1 Hotel from 03 Sep to 17 Sep inc. This was our 15th visit in ten years. The hotel complex is made up of three hotels but we prefer to stay in Estival Park 1 as this is our favourite out of the three. Having read some of the recent reviews we were a little concerned as to what we may find on this trip but we needn’t have worried as it was as good as it’s ever been.

Check in at reception was painless and Alicia who dealt with us was very friendly & efficient. Nothing was too much trouble . We asked for a second door key which she sorted and extra pillows. These were in our room later that night. We opted to hire a safe in the room which for the two weeks was 28 Euros plus a 10 Euro deposit which was refunded when we checked out.

Our room on the 4th floor was great with a pool view. It was clean and included a new Flat screen TV which received more English channels then we had been able to get before i.e. BBC1, Channel 5 & BBC World News. Rooms were cleaned daily and any supplies in the bathroom replenished if you had used them. The beds although a little hard were fine and there was more than enough wardrobe space although we did take a few extra coat hangers which were useful. There is a fold away clothes airer on the balcony which is useful for any bits ‘n’ pieces you rinse through.

The area around the pool was always kept clean & the pool cleaned every morning. There were more than enough loungers to go around even for those people arriving at the poolside later in the morning. We tended to put our towels down between 8:30 to 09:00 and there were loads of loungers still available then. One would be taken up most mornings by a black cat that lived in the hotel grounds. He was a bit of a character. Towels can be hired from a hut beside the pool for 10 Euros deposit each. This is refunded when you give your towels back in at the end of your stay and towels can be changed whenever the hut is open too. If you enjoy it quiet around the pool keep away from the stage area as all apart from Tuesday’s (Animation Team’s day off) there is loud music blaring out from the speakers from about 10:30 each day. Our own IPods couldn’t get above the noise. They would turn it down if you asked but it crept up again when they got the chance.

The pool bar was available most of the day and there was waiter service if you used the seated area outside the hotel’s bar. The main bar inside the hotel is great as it’s the only bar out of the 3 hotels that you can actually sit at. There are also plenty of tables & chairs if you prefer to sit back from the actual bar. The bar staff are very friendly which is surprising considering the rudeness of some of the guests we witnessed. There is a snack bar available on your all inc. in the bar area which serves fresh food throughout the day and you can help yourself to toasted sandwiches, bacon, sausages, bread rolls & other various bits ‘n’ pieces. The other two hotels have all inc. Snack bars too.

The main restaurant was spacious with an outside section for those having to smoke. The restaurant at peak times was very busy but we found for breakfast anything before 08.:45 was fine. Lunchtimes never seemed to be a problem and we left it until about 020:30 before venturing in for our evening meal. The selection of foods on offer is amazing. Breakfast time there was a large selection of breads/cakes, cold meats & cheeses plus various types of cooked eggs/sausages/bacon/potatoes as well as a good selection of fresh fruit & yogurts. Plenty to choose from. You help yourself to pots of hot coffee/milk and there is a large selection of teas/fruit juices if you prefer. Plenty of choice.

Lunchtimes brought a large selection of salads and numerous other hot & cold dishes including a lot of fish dishes. There were always chefs preparing cooked meats and foods were quickly replenished. There were always about 20 puddings to choose from too. Evening meal sessions were very similar to lunchtimes but there would always be some shell fish available in abundance like crabs legs/large prawns/clams etc. Chef would also cook sirloin steaks and other meat dishes. Some of the fish dishes on offer would cost you a small fortune if you had to pay for them e.g. Red snapper, Dog fish, Cod plus many others. We didn’t find the menu repetitive at all in the two weeks we were there. There was never a large selection of potatoes but always something to choose from and the range of salads & savoury rice made up for that. One thing that was evident at mealtimes this holiday was the amount of Russian guests who felt the need to take their laptops into the restaurant. Whether this technology has only now reached Russia & they felt they needed to show it off who knows.

There are two Spa facilities available. The old Spa building is still available on your all inc. But still gives a good selection of water features/hot rooms/Jacuzzis and a full size indoor pool. There are lockers available which use a 50 cent coin (refundable). You will need a swim hat but these can be bought from the reception area of the sports bar where you have to be let through to the spa anyway. There is also a comprehensive indoor gym available too for the more energetic of you also accessible via The Sports bar and Hairdressers if you need a trim whilst away.

The new Aqum Spa is a much larger concern. You have to pay to use the facilities here. It’s split into two sections and for approx. 20 Euros there is more than enough features to keep you occupied for some time. Free Lockers are available and again you need swim hats. It’s best to visit either Spa when the weather is good as they are very quiet then.

The grounds around the hotel are immaculate and gardeners/handy men are always working to keep the area tidy. There are notice boards outside the pool area of hotel 1 which list what entertainment is on in each of the three hotel’s that evening and also details what activities the Animation team are putting on throughout the day. This consisted of mainly darts/pool games, Aqua Gym and every afternoon there was either Volley Ball or Water Polo in pool 1. Some of the evening entertainment was provided by the Animation team too. Not really our scene but a lot of people seemed to be enjoying the shows.

Evening entertainment generally was ok. We enjoyed some of the tribute bands appearing who were very good. One band Soul Hunters were outstanding and had everyone up dancing & having a good time.

The beach at La Pineda is great. It’s very shallow for some way in. There are loungers to hire with or without shade if you want them. We didn’t bother this time as they can be quite expensive. There are bars/toilets/showers on the beach plus you will get sellers coming around offering massages/bags/sunglasses/clothes /hair braiding etc but will leave you alone if you are firm with them.

There are numerous shops alongside the beach and a small supermarket which seems to stock most things and comes in handy for bits ‘n’ pieces. There is a Plana bus shop just along from the supermarket where you can buy a plastic card for approx 12 Euros which gives you ten bus rides locally which is cheap at 1 euro a ride. This is easy to use on the bus and saves you having to have loose change. When the card is finished with you take it back and get two Euros back or you can get it topped back up again. We used it to go into Cambrils which takes approx.25 mins. and Salou which is approx a 15 minutes ride so is very reasonable.

I honestly can’t understand some people’s negative comments about the food at this hotel as it really is very good. Would love to know where they stay that gives you a better choice than we had. All in all this was yet again a great holiday at The Estival Park Hotel and we were lucky to meet a lot of great people to help make our holiday special.

If you think I may be able to answer any questions you may have feel free to contact me.
