This was our second visit to Sportoletti and they impressed us all over again. For those of you not familiar with their wine the Villa Fidelia is one of the most powerful Bordeaux style Italian reds from the region. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
The winery is family owned and run and brings a bit of old world style to this nuevo classic. Our tour started with a family member taking us through their spotless facility. The tour itself only lasts about 20 mins then the real fun begins. You will sample 4 to 6 wines as well as a new aperitif which is stunning. The Fidelia line is the flag ship wine and i implore you to take some back with you. The price per bottle is very inexpensive compared to buying it (if you can find it) in the states. The olive oil (included in the tasting) is so good you will be tempted to ask for another glass to drink it straight up.
The wines are consistently in the low to mid 90's from Parker and the genuine and gracious hospitality make this winery a must for your next visit.
