“Consistently good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012 via mobile

Great food and consistent. Ambience very noisy and staff can be a little cold but overall go for the food not the restaurant. It's worth it.... Just for the Pizza!

“Bland - Pre-prepared / reheated food & indifferent service. Overpriced. Stealth service charge.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

This place only escaped a 'terrible' rating as my wife likes the garlic bread so much.

Essentially this place operates like a 'curry' house. One or two basic sauces on the go and when you order each is 'tweaked' to make it seem freshly cooked.

Many dishes are pre-prepped and reheated. I know this as I've sent so many back when the microwave has left an arctic cold spot in an otherwise scaldingly hot dish.

It's so far from 'italian' cuisine it's laughable. If you've actually tasted REAL italian food you'll immediately notice the difference.

You pay over £1.50 for a CAN of coke - Presumably this extra charge is because they open the can and pour a third of a glass out for you?

Beer is extortionate, but drinks are essential as the food is so salty - This is because salt is essential for flavour and reduced acidity in tomato based cooking when you're not spending the time to actually make a proper italian sauce!

The creamy dishes are so rich you'll be bloated for hours afterwards.

Service is indifferent - Worse when it comes to getting drinks after your meal is served.

This is due in no small part to the automatic inclusion of a 'serviee charge' to your bill.

You're not consulted, it's just factored in. If this was removed I've no doubt you'd not have to wave your arm like a lunatic for a refil when the waitresses are chatting together on the other side of the restaurant!

The decor is old and tired. The ambience is awful. If there's a birthday the staff willl come out, bang saucepans and sing along to the CD song.
However their blank and long suffering expressions kind of deflate the experience for all concerned.

All in all this place is at best half-hearted in everything it does and it shows!

“Good Italian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Went to Zinco's with my family on a busy Saturday night, all the usual Italian staples on the menu, Veal, beef, fish, pizza, pasta and sweets, served quickly, something on the menu for all of us done well, average prices, have been to a lot of pizza restaurants in Italy on my hols and this one certainly measures up with them, can recommend!

“Would rather go to Pizza Express”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Very average pasta. The kids had a pizza between them which was quite big. Average prices, average food.

“Good at what it does, but 'one size fits all'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

This is the nearest Italian restaurant to my home and work, so I eat there about once a month, both with friends and customers.

Service is fine. Food is tasty and plentiful. Prices are reasonable.

But, as mentioned in an earlier review, they should do small portions for kids and also (in my opinion) for snackers. On my last visit, I left half of the main course pasta because, while it was very tasty, I just wasn't all that hungry. A waste of their good food and my money.
