“A very interesting stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

This stop is right off the highway. A short walk to the beach not only gives you access to the ocean but exposes you to some very interesting history. Take the 30 min walk to Dritvik for even more history of the fisherman and their lives a century or more ago

“Lots of pebbles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

From the car park, it is a short walk down to the beach (??) through some facinating lava formations. Take care on the track. The beach on the Atlantic Ocean is made up of pebble stones of all sizes. On the beach is a wrecked British fishing boat, although there is not much of it left now - just a lot of rusty metal. This area has some weird tales because of the shapes of the surrounding lava field.
On the beach are four great pebbles - 23Kg up to 154Kg. These rocks were used to determine the manliness of the fishermen rowing from here in the old days, by lifting them and placing them on a ledge about a metre high.
An interesting diversion off the road.
