“Fountains that flow from the force of gravity. Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

These gardens are beautiful, with a traditional English garden layout and fountains and streams everywhere. Every part of the garden is interesting and unique, from the carefully tended shrub walls to the chapel, to the chateau to the upper reservoir where the water starts its downward descent. Come on a nice day and bring your camera!

“VERY RELAXING AND PEACEFUL”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

These water-gardens are well worth a visit. Set in the beautiful Ardennes countryside, allow a good few hours to wander around the picturesque water gardens and to see the reflection of the chateau in the 'moat'. Probably not ideal for teenage children (unless they are interested in water gardens particularly - there is a small 'playground' for younger children. Visitors should not expect masses of flowers - these gardens have been around for 250+years, and flowers are a relativley new introduction into gardens. However, there is plenty of greenery, bushes, trees, shrubs - and the most amazing water structures. Fountains, streams, ponds, waterfalls, cascades - and not a single water-pump anywhere. It is all done by gravity!
Take a picnic and just enjoy the quiet, listening to the sound of water. Good weather is pretty important - I suspect the gardens would lose something in the rain!
When you have finished, there is a lovely 'orangery' where you can sit on the balcony overlooking the gardens and have a lunch/ice-cream.

“Pleasant Water Garden”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

This is a very pleasant garden to take a stroll in on a fine afternoon. the fountains are many and attractive, the vegetable garden interesting, but the statues are disappointing. I was pleased to see a party of school children being entertained by a guide in 18th century costume. There is a good cafe.

“Everything has certain limit”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

There are absolutely no signs on the roads leading to that attraction.

Across the street there is large unpaved parking lot for which they expect you to pay in addition to admission. I asked the cashier why do they take additional money for parking and why don't they take additional money for restrooms in the garden, in order to emphasize the absurdity of their policy. Guess what her answer was... They do take additional money for restrooms.

We've travelled all over the world, nowhere have we encountered such inhibited avarice as in Belgium.
That is not the only attraction that charges visitors that already paid for it, additional money for restrooms. At the citadel in Dinant they do exactly the same.
Almost all Belgian restaurants refuse to serve tap water, forcing the costumers to pay for bottled water.
In public restrooms all over Belgium , after you pay and use them, you discover that there are no soap and no paper towels. The paper towels dispenser is empty and there are no air dryers. In many public restrooms in Belgium a fabric towel is hanging next to sinks and they expect people to use it, yes, the same towel for everybody.

Forcing costumers to pay for obvious complimentary items seems to be the national Belgian sport.

We do not accept that impertinent behavior and we refused to pay once again for what is supposed to be already covered by admission. We did not purchased tickets and did not visit. Everything has certain limit.

“Peaceful and beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

We went there for something different to do whilst cycling in the Ardennes and loved it. It's really one man's gadget - how to get the most out of water - but it's realisation is wonderful. The chateau 'floating' on the water knocks spots off anything in Venice
