Villa Pomme D'Amour is absolutely beautiful-- nicely landscaped, decorated with warm earth tones and local art, gorgeous tile, nice pool and deck. We loved the huge balcony off our the kitchen and living room with its stunning view, and especially appreciated the smaller yet also spacious balcony off our bedroom-- the balconies and lots of windows allow the island breezes to move constantly through the entire space, making it feel so refreshing, relaxing and calm. Nicely appointed little kitchen, everything you need to cook. The proprietors Josee and Pierre are warm, welcoming and accomodating: Josee called and booked for us every activity we wished for and followed up with us throughout the week. She was also very helpful giving us directions so we cold find everything we wanted as we drove all over the island. Our car was delivered to us, and we left it at Vieux Fort airport, very handy. Jovial Pierre picked us up at the airport and delighted us with his extensive knowledge of the island and its people. We (two adults, two teens) were so pleased with our stay at the Villa; we loved it. The central location made the entire island accessible to us with a rental car. Great website at www.villapommedamour.com.
Our recommendations for activities: Scuba Diving with Fair Helen Scuba in Marigot Bay was fantastic! 3 of us were first timers and they made it easy for us (though I am the skeptic and was nervous, it turned out to be my favorite experience.)
Treetop Zip lines were great-- 7 individual lines, exhilarating, great staff, cool place-- the last ride is the best.
Take a Day sail from Marigot Bay-- for $100US per person you can have a private cruise. You can sail south toward Sousfriere, or North (like we did) to Rodney Bay.
The Botanic Gardens and Diamond Waterfall near Sousfriere were gorgeous-- complete with mineral baths! Ask for the private baths if it's busy... there are two tubs around the back to the side of the public ones, they'll let you in there if you are a group of 4 or less.
Find The Mango Tree Restaurant off the main road just past Sousfriere, right before the Volcano/Sulfur Springs. GREAT place with a stunning view of The Pitons-- best food we had the whole week, and very reasonable.
Mygot Bay Chateau/Restaurant in Marigot Bay very near the Villa was too expensive for such small portion size/quality. Instead take the water taxi to Dootlittle's across the bay ($2US for the water taxi) which is more reasonably priced with better portions, but still not great food. They have a palm tree-laden beach, they make good drinks and have pool tables, which is fun.
Great beach: Vieux Fort near the airport. Little cafe right nearby, you can drink/eat, swim, skimboard, kiteboard. Waves galore, very long white beach.
Cultural note: Some men will really work tourists over in Castries and Sousfriere if you appear to be lost--they'll give you the "no-no-no" hand signal as if you are travelling the wrong way down a road, and then get you to roll down your window and give your directions (as in, they'll walk you down the street 20 yards and point you in the same direction you were already heading, and then work on you to pay them for their trouble.) After the second time this happened, we learned to "just keep moving" and ignore them. Kinda reminded us of the guerilla window washers in New York City. They're very friendly, will shake the hand of everyone in the car... and I'm sure they need the money-- no big deal, but it can be a bit disconcerting if you aren't prepared for it.
