we stayed at the discovery marigot bay for a week in march and v much enjoyed it
firstly to mention is i booked directly with the hotel on something called the honeymoon package ( you dont have to be married!) and it was well worth it -included were a couples massgage , half day private yacht cruise , horse riding and a treehouse meal - 3 courses of your chosing - which when taken together definately was worth more that the add on ( more details on the hotels website )
- the resort is based around a habour so is a pool rather than beach place so you get to see 200 ft yachts dock an can stroll down and see what 10 million pouns gets you with the beach for the resort a 1 minute boat ride away - we didnt use it as it wasnt great but the hotel provides free water shuttle service to other resorts beaches ( jalousie etc) so you can go and then come back a few hours later
the pool is with a seperate kids pool- there is also a smaller pool near one of the bars and seems to accomodate enough people without too much trouble with the general pool food really pretty good
- the rooms are big an airy with balconys and are in dark wood and 4 poster beds and big bathrooms with the added bonus of a FREE minibar so soft drinks etc are topped up on a daily basis which is a v nice addition as is the coffee maker and a decent tv with dvd collection if it rains and there are only a limited number of rooms so not too many people around
- also worth mentioning is that some of the rooms come with a kitchen and we met a number of couples who had v young children who found it v useful
- the food is v good and for a resort is well priced -our boat captain said the bar did the islands best burgers but we mainly had fish and lobster - both in the main restaurant and in the more casual hurricane bar which again was v good value and across the bay are 2-3 restaurants ( rainforest cafe seemed to be the one people recommened ) which are seperate from the hotel and are a water taxi away and there is also a shopping area just outside with sandwich shops and craft shops
otherwise there is a espa spa and gym to pass the time as well but basically just a relaxing place to enjoy the sun and read a book
not too much to do for young kids and only a few were there at the time and the service is still a little "carribean" but generally good and the conciege desk is helpful in booking all things
