Service When You Need It Most! This is not going to be a typical review, because our trip was not at all typical.
If you have read the other reviews, you know that the Inn on the Bay has a beautiful view, comfortable rooms, lovely grounds, and that Louise and Normand are excellent hosts. We certainly experienced all of that. However, to us what stood out most was how wonderfully caring Normand and Louise were when one of us was stricken with a severe case of thrombotic hemorrhoids (hence the title).
If you have ever had a severe acute hemorrhoidal issue, you know how painful and embarassing it can be, especially on vacation. Being in a foreign country without knowledge of local health care resources, we went to Louise and Normand for advice. They immediately swung into action, calling all over the island. They searched the island top to BOTTOM, END to END, hunting down medicine and supplies to alleviate the condition and offered to find a doctor to perform a house call. They took excellent care of us, helping us replan our trip given the new situation. Normand always drove us where we needed to go so we wouldn't have to take a bumpy water taxi. Normand also lent us some DVDs to watch in our room, since we couldn't travel as much as we would have otherwise. In short, Normand and Louise took care of us as if we were family, BEHIND us all the way.
A bit of advice for anyone staying at the Inn:
1. Book directly through Normand and Louise's Inn on the Bay website. You get a discount and you can communicate with them beforehand so that they can help you figure out the best trip possible.
2. Let Normand make your restaurant reservations in the Marigot Bay area. We always got the best table in the house when Normand called for us.
3. Ask Normand for bug repellent if you're going to eat at one of the restaurants on the water.
4. Drink lots of water and get plenty of fiber, unless you want to write a review like this one.
