... the main difference being the personal service afforded by Normand and Louise .... who could not have done more to make our stay pure pleasure. Normand is probably the best personal tour guide around, with the wickedest sense of humour, and it was always a delight to chat with him each day to ask his advice about what what we should do and then to tell him what we had done on our return. The second 'difference' was the location of the Inn - high on the hill overlooking Marigot Bay with all it's activity - totally breathtaking. The third 'difference' was the romance and tranquility of the setting. Not for us the hustle and bustle of a resort hotel around Rodney Bay with masses of restaurants, bars, children, and activities, no - we preferred the intimate setting of the Inn's 5 rooms, making plans for outings with Normand's help and daily conversations in and around the pool with like minded folk there that week. When we planned this holiday we had decided to splash out as it was taken as a break in the planning of our wedding. We turned to Trip Advisor and up came the Inn on the Bay - with bed and breakfast accommodation, not previously considered. Normand's accurate and informative website then gave us all the information we needed and we telephoned him direct to make a booking. Nothing could have been simpler. He held the booking for us until we had confirmed our flights and he organised a taxi from the airport - so we arrived in comfort - and this was to continue throughout our stay. Our room was huge, airy and bright with an equally huge and well appointed bathroom. There were wonderful views both from the back and front. There was a small fridge to store any provisions we may have wanted but we went out each morning after a great breakfast of fruit, muffins, cheese, cold meats, toast, juice, coffee, tea, etc. and apart from water, the fridge remained empty. Marigot Bay itself was beautiful. It had wonderful restaurants, a bank, a small supermarket, a cafe and some shops and a small beach for sunbathing/swimming. There was always something going on in the Bay with yachts arriving and departing during the day - and the night time view of the Bay (from the Inn's verandah) with its twinkling lights and with a cooling Caribbean breeze blowing, will remain with me always. Yes, St Lucia is expensive (but what Caribbean island isn't), yes, there isn't a long sandy beach at Marigot Bay and yes, the Inn provides B&B only but it is an oasis of tranquility with the warmest of welcomes and a setting and a level of service second to none. Highly recommended!
