“Enjoyable Stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

This hotel, while not luxurious, was charming, clean, and comfortable. We found the staff pleasant, helpful, professional. The restaurant was very good--breakfast each morning was terrific and we had delicious dinners there on two evenings. The restaurant and bar/lounge are also very picturesque and seem to be a preferred stop for boaters, due to the great location on Marigot Bay.
The owner and various staff provided excellent advice on activities, sights, transportation.
Use the pool with caution. Although it was pretty and very clean, there were many missing and loose or damaged sharp tiles.
There's a small beach just a few steps away. Not the best, but the hotel has plenty of lounge chairs and beach towels available, and it was pretty convenient.
Easy and free ferry access to some nearby restaurants, or across the bay to a small store, car rental, etc.
This lovely resort was hard to leave!

Room Tip: I'm not sure if all rooms have a big front porch or balcony. Ours did, and we loved it!

We arrived late on a Saturday evening about sunset, after getting lost a couple of times in the rental car on the way up the island from the airport in the south. The owner, David checked us in personally because his staff had gone home for the day. We had booked the 'Superior Firefly Studio' with daily breakfast included. David observed (in a very polite way) that I was an old, overweight, out of shape guy and offered us a room right above the office area with very few stairs. After viewing that room and the original room that we booked, my wife & I opted for the original room higher up the hillside because it had a king bed which suits my 6'5" height much better. The stair climbing each day was somewhat tiring, but I did lose 8 lbs. during the stay (which is a good thing!)

The room was very clean, comfortable (with good A/C), and a full kitchen in which we cooked several meals. Groceries can be bought about 2.5 miles away at the IGA store in Cul-de-Sac if you have a rental car, or just across the bay at a small market which has a much more limited selection. Housekeeping came by each day and did an excellent job. The view of the bay from the room's patio was fantastic. David personally greeted us by name several times during our stay and he was always interested in making sure that we were happy with our stay.

Breakfast each day at Doolittle's restaurant on the waterfront was very good, with my wife & I usually ordering omelets with a variety of ingredients. We ate several other meals at Doolittle's for lunch & dinner which were very good as well. We also ate at Mygo's across the bay, which was also very good. We had dinner one night at the Rainforest Hideaway which although quite excellent, was also very pricey at about $150 USD with tip for the two of us. Doolittle's and Mygo's both offer much better value on meals.

During the week, I went SCUBA diving 4 different days for a total of 8 dives with the local 'Dive Fair Helen' shop which has an office on the resort property. The entire DFH staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and professional which made the week of diving a joy. My wife came along one day as a snorkeler, and DFH provided her with a one-on-one guide while I was SCUBA diving with the rest of the group.

If I could find any negative about our stay it would be that the wireless internet does not work in any of the rooms; it only works in the office area and in the bar, and sometimes not in the bar. This was not a huge inconvenience as we did not travel to St. Lucia to spend time on the internet, but it would have been nice to be able to e-mail photos home each evening right before going to bed without having to climb the stairs to and from the office area. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone wanting to see the 'real St. Lucia' instead of being one of the herded sheeple at the commercial big-name all-inclusive resorts.

It was great to find an inexpensive place on the island that has really nice rooms and amenities. We had one of the newer rooms--including a great shower, minibar which was stocked with juice, milk and fresh fruit on our arrival, and a flat screen tv with cable. We rented kayaks downstairs and paddled around the Bay one day, another day we hired a guy with a boat (sorry, can't remember his name, but he's there all the time) for the day to take us two different places for snorkeling and lunch ($160 US, including snorkeling equipment, lunch not included). Everything you need is there. The beach was great--the locals are respectful--after they offer their wares--fresh mangos and coconuts, for eg., they leave you alone. The bar scene is lively and the food was very good. Overall, very happy with our experience here.

We love this little gem of a hotel on the side of the cliff in Marigot Bay. It's a real escape from the touristy Rodney Bay resorts and Sandals resorts. The good thing about Marigot Bay Beach Club is that it's away from the madding crowds, but there is always something happening in the lively bar--either live music or fun people playing pool. There are other options too--you can easily take a ferry boat over to JJ's for a more funky experience and some fast food. We were happy to see that the food has greatly improved since our last visit (7 years ago) (however, its still a little pricey by our standards). You feel better about the prices when you eat the fantastic ribs--who knew you could get fall-of-the bone barbecue spare ribs in St. Lucia? Our room was one of the new ones and was very nice, including large shower and granite countertops, nice furniture. So, we would def. stay here again and recommend it over other pricey spots in St. Lucia.

Room Tip: They are all nice--the older rooms have larger patios and nice views, the newer rooms are nicely app...

we spent a very good hollidays in this hotel. The room had all the view to the bay , very quiet and clean. We had a kitchinet, frigobar and. a very good mattress with air conditioning . We had all we expected.. Very good price and vey good service. The owner of the hotel "David" was always there for everything you need.
All the staff working were very friendly. They gave a solution for everything we needed.
Near the hotel were the company Dive Fair Helen , so my husband was very comfortable to go all days in the morning to make diving with them. IN the other side of the bay , there is a bank and a supermarket. But the hotel have a restaurant whose name is Doolitte that have very good food with very good price.. The beach on the bay was like a private beach and there are taxi boats for the guests to cross to the other side all times you need.

I recommend this hotel and we are going to return.

Room Tip: All the rooms have a beautifull view. We prefer the rooms not at the top because we don´t want to g...

The Rotaract Club held it's 29th Charter Anniversary Dinner at "The Big Bamboo" Marigot Beach Club and Dive Resort and we appreciated the personal assistance extended, even going the extra mile from Rotarian David (owner), especially Food and Beverage Manager Steve

The scenery and sound of the crashing waves is gorgeous.

As a Saint Lucian we do sometimes take for granted that pleasures of our beautiful island
